SOURCE: what is the best picture

Just a suggestion, since you gave no model information, no specific directions can be given. <div><br /></div> <div>If your set, through the main menu, offers the choices of 'Warm' and 'Cool,' try both to see which you like better.</div> <div><br /></div> <div>The first offers more intense colors, the second (which we prefer) is much more natural to our eyes with flesh tones and single colors closer to nature.</div> <div><br /></div> <div>If you don't have those choices, try varying the color intensity first, and tint second since the last one is pretty easy to find one that looks more like life.</div> <div><br /></div> <div>Brightness and contrast are highly dependent on the viewing room so there isn't really a 'right' or 'wrong' setting for this.</div>

Want to know how to adjust contrast

Very old set--always adjust so contrast not too high--it should always be lower than brightness---say brightness at 75% and contrast lower--if contrast set too high smearing will occur and picture quality will be affected.

Hellow. I bought a Lake PC to TV video converter. I pluged to my laptop and TV and no special problem, but the contrast and bright of the image in my TV is very bad. I pushed buttons to open the menu...

click start control panel, display, desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list
or a browse button where you can select different pictures this may vary depending on your operating system
also settings you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general dpi normal size, larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes hope this helps

Toshiba 37XV505D. Sound but no picture

Hi,
Since sound is ok but there is no picture, you should try the following:
1) check whether brightness & contrast controls are adjusted properly. If necessary increase level of these controls.
2) If brightness & contrast are ok and even then there is no picture then most probably, there is fault in the horizontal supply circuitry which drives picture tube and is responsible for picture to appear on the screen. you will have to take the TV to service center.
Good luck and Good day.
Rating the solution is appreciated please.

Picture fades in and out

Some newer TV's are equipped with a ROOM SENSOR which will change the Contrast and Brightness according to the amount of light going into the Sensor. While watching DVD's or Movies the output of light from the TV screen changes sometimes affecting the Sensor. While Computers are pretty consistent with light output.  Go into your TV Menu and look for ROOM SENSOR or something similar and turn it off. If not then check in the TV Menu Video controls and see if there are any Contrast or Brightness functions set to AUTO. If so grab a DVD with THX and they have a TV Calibration that is very easy to set-up your TV too.

I have a RCA 42 inch 1080 HD Tv. My son decided to change my color setting. Is there a way to get the factory setting back? I have been playing with the different tint, contrast and color settings. I still...

well there is usually a tab in your pictuer adjusment screen that says reset. but if your tv doesn't have that tab i can give you a few adjustments.

first- your tint should remain neutral. so if it has a color scale of 1 to 100 it should be on 50
second- your contrast should be about 80% or what your eye likes. look at the black tones
when you are adjusting it.
third- your brightness would look good about 65% pay attention to whites in your picture
fourth- your color all depends on how your eye precieves it. so adjust it with out making the colors to
neon or too dull
fith- your sharpness should be turned down to about 15% to much gives the picture a grainy texture.
sixth- your color temp should be neutral or normal. if the tv gives numbers the selection that says 6500k is the best choice.

you could always buy a calibration disc for about $20 and that could help you even better because now you are using images targeting the individule adjustment.

you could always pay to have it profeesionally caibrated. ISF certified techs will come too your home and do all the adjusment with special color filters and light sensors to give it the best picture possible according to your room. i know best buy charges $250 for it

those are just some suggestions. and the adjustments i give you work greatest for me, so if you dont like the overall out come you can always tweek it to your eye. make sure you use a digital picture with a lot of color when your making your adjustments. i like using disneys "the incredibles"

Ccreen quality

There is no yellow tube my freind, only a red, blue, and a green one. If its too bright, have you tried to turn down the black level yet or brightmess, and also the contrast. On these sets you don't need to have the brightness up way high, as the contrast does this. If, when you turn down the brightness, and the picture looks dull, you may need to clean off the mirrors, and or the lens for the picture tubes. If that does not help, there could be a problem in the screen drive circuit or the high voltage block. Good Luck Ps Please do not forget to rate this thread.
