Dell Optiplex GX150 will not boot - no beeps but has error lights

OK I have a Dell Optiplex GX150 that up until today has worked fine. It is not connected to the internet (and never has been) and runs a single application.
When I turned it on today the power light at the front flickers green/orange and on the rear of the unit the 4 LEDs are flashing in the following pattern:
A flashing alternatly green/amber
B flashing alternatly green/amber
C flashing green
D flashing green

Also both the lights on the network port are flashing an an audible clicking noise can be heard in time with the flash pattern!?...

I have removed and reinserted the memory to no avail!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

You first need to make sure your memory is secure.

Dell GX150 beeps 5 times on startup.

This normally means there is a memory error. Have you recently added memory to the sytem? You can try to remove and reseat all memory modules in the system to see if that clears the problem.

My dell optiplex won't switch on.

Here'w what I would do: Unplug everything (hard drive, CD, DVD), and even consider taking out the modem if you have one. Now try to start it. If it starts (but, of course gives you a "missing boot device" error, start it up with only the hard drive. If there is a speaker in the system, you might consider removing the memory to see if it gives you an error beep code. If these things don't work, then you're looking at a new motherboard.

Dell optiplex gx150 cd drive won't boot

Hmmm--when you went into the BIOS setup, your first boot device should be CD. The next your hard drive. The other boot devices should be set to disabled. Now if you have a third boot device as a network device, then your computer is not seeing the CD or the Hard drive--you have a problem. If all the drives are hooked up properly (sounds like you have that covered) then your motherboard is probably the problem.
I would try to disconnect all your stuff except the CD. Try it on the first IDE channel (set it either as cable select or master). If that fails, try it on the other channel. Do you have a second CD to swap out?
Still no boot? Bad motherboard.

Blue Screen error

Try to boot the PC without the XP Home CD in the CD drive, and keep pressing the F8 key until it comes up with a boot menu that includes a Safe Mode option.

If you had the XP Pro CD I'd suggest doing a recovery, but XP Home doesn't have that option I don't think.

You may have to try a few times until the boot menu appears. Don't hold the F8 key down - keep pressing it!

When you get into Safe Mode, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Then go to Hardware tab (i think - not in winXP right now) and choose device manager. Just remove the Video Card from the list altogether, and then restart. Should force it to use generic video card drivers.

then check your video card model and look for the updated driver

I have experienced this problem as well, it is either the CD is scratch or the CD-rom lens needs cleaning, however it can read the content of the CD, I would susgest you try a another CD-rom , borrow it from a friend. It works for me.
