Question about HTC Touch P3450 Smartphone

2 Answers

Battery shows fully charged, stays on for 3 minutes and freezes.

After charging the battery for 10 hours, the battery shows 100% charge, indicator has turned green, the phone comes on for 3-5 minutes then it freezes or powers off. When I try to power it back on either will not power on or it will power on and then I see a red screen which I assume is low battery and it freezes.

First I thought it was the battery I've bought two new batteries since but the same result.

I've tried charging it with a usb cable from a pc the same result.

---------

I've heard this phone hasn't got a great battery life but this one I got cannot be used as it cuts off in the first 3 minutes after it was turned on.
-----------

There is some improvement though when the phone has been charged in a cool room it stays on for 20 minutes, but still should stay on for at least 20 hours not 20 minutes. After the first phone call which lasts 3 minutes freezes again.
-----------------

Anyone got a solution to this before I go and buy a new one and definetly not a HTC.

Thank you.

    Thanks for the answer.

I've tried before with soft and hard resets no luck.

Got two new batteries on ebay from china, same result.

The charger is the original htc one, never used a cradle just when it wouldn't work with it's own charger, just charged it from my pc with a usb cable to a mini usb one.

I've had this happen. Try a soft reset, if that doesn't fix it - try a hard reset. If it still does this, you will need to replace the battery. It may either be a problem with the battery itself or the power regulation circuit that is built into the battery. Either way, replace the battery and it should fix it. Word of warning though, some aftermarket chargers actually reverse-charge the battery - I had a USB charge/data cradle that did this and I still have short-lived battery life on my new E2 battery if I use that cradle. I just stopped using it because it kills my E2.

pls first confirm the charger is working or not and then kindly leave the pda for like 2 hours on charge it will start charging , when u store these devices for longer period kindly fully charge the battery and then store , when battery drains during non use it drops to a certain level from where it might come back or might not , pls leave the battery on charge for like 2 or 3 hours first and then u will see charging signs or light

When battery was full charged no indication was shown by mobile.

Another way that you can see when you're phone is charging is if you turn your phone off and then plug it in to the charger. This will make the phone show you an Animation of a big Battery being charged slowly, if it shows 4 bars all the way to the top your phone is fully charged.

Here is a palm article on the battery not holding charge-

My battery loses its charge very quickly

Like all Lithium Ion batteries, the battery in your device will eventually wear out. If you charge your device fully but it loses power after a few hours (or sooner), it may be time to replace the internal battery.

Sounds like you already did this. Do you have someone you know who has the same battery you could try? Or try your battery in their device?

Step #11

You can connect it via USB and let it charge that way a little while, then try charging it normally. It's called trickle charging-

Trickle charging
Some Palm devices have the ability to "trickle charge" from a USB port on a PC or Mac. This means that it receives a very small amount of charging from the USB port, even if it is not connected to its AC charger. If your device is capable of this function, the charging time will be significantly longer for a trickle charge (depending on the power rating of the PC USB port). However, the device may not charge at all on an unpowered USB hub (or for example off off a keyboard).

Battery Charge - First Use

My experience was similar to yours. The LED turned green after about only 2 hours. Because I didn't want to stay up until midnight to start playing with my Axim, I took it out of the cradle after the 2 hours and everything was fine. Besides, having downloaded and read the user's guide 2 days before receving my Axim, I knew that a green LED meant it was ready to go. 3 days later, everything is still fine and seems normal. A year ago, I received a Palm with similar initial charging requirements, and it also didn't take as long as the directions said it would.
