You can open the VGA cable and connect it again, sometimes there are two or three vga ports behind your cpu, connect the right one. Try it, if not success, change the cable.

Please try to unplug the laptop from power and remove the battery for over 10 seconds. Then start it up again. There are other things we can try if this does not work.
can you try this? unplug the pc, hold down the power switch until the amber light goes off, then (with the pc still unplugged) push the power button to see if the amber light comes back on, if it does, repeat the first step. do this until no light comes on when the power button is pushed. after you've done this. plug the pc back up, then hit the power button. what happens?
ive had this happen to a lot of my dell pc's here at work, but all i can figure out is that its a mobo problem, i also have tried swapping PSU's, but it didnt help.
An orange/amber light is almost always a power problem. Is the amber light on the monitor or the PC itself? I'm assuming the PC since you have the ability to read the screen. Your best bet is to check your power supply in the PC. Do you have a power supply tester (about $20) or another PC? You can switch them out and see if the orange light follows the power supply. Let me know what you find out.
Try starting it in safe mode. (Hold F8 after power on). If you get your icon screen go to start, run and type in msconfig. Click startup and disable all the items. Hit OK and try a normal restart. This error can be caused by a bad program starting up.
