If the remote will even program for the TV (any brand) it is unlikely it will have the button to change inputs on the TV---problem with programmable remotes is if they will program key features will not be there.

turn on your tv, press and hold tv button, then the on/off button, it will light up then press the power button.and it turns off....hold. After holding down both for buttons for 3 secs the light on the on/off key turns back on. Release both keys and the light should stay on. Now hit the On/off button repeatedly until the tv turns off, when it does hit the stop button to save code.

I came across this looking for a similar solution for my Samsung TV, and I found the solution on ehow.com. Apparently after you program the remote for your TV you have to hold mute and select again until it flashes twice then put in 960 to make the remote control TV input too. Note you're remote should be in TV mode while you do this. It seems silly that the DirectTV guy wouldn't do this when programming the remote.
