Hi!

There are two black Mylar light shields approximately 3.5 inches long, in the pickup assembly area of the product. They are located on both sides of the pickup roller under the pickup roller rod. One or both of theses black Mylar shields can be tucked under, or partially bent when removing a paper jam from the paper input tray slot.

Reposition the black Mylar light shields back into the proper position.

1.)Unplug the power cord from the product.
2.)Remove the paper and paper input tray.
3.) Slide hands, palms side up, into the paper input tray cavity until the fingertips reach the end of the cavity.
4.)Bend fingers up to push the black Mylar light shields back into place. The proper position of the black Mylar light shield will be flat.
5.)Reconnect the power cord.
6.)Print a self-test/configuration page to verify product is functioning correctly

Thanks

It can be only because of two things
1) There are rollers that cling on to the paper and move it through the machine. When the rollers are worn down they do not grip the paper. For a short fix you can get something rough like sandpaper, brillo pad, etc, and gently scratch the rollers to give them some traction. This will temporarily solve your problem until you can get the rollers replaced.

2) the paper sensor is become loose or is moved from its orignal location or the springs that creates a tension on the stopper of the sensor is loose.

rate the solution accordingly.

I'm sorry that I misled you. I looked at the service info and your problem refers to the system board. The HP people say that it is a fatal error and that if unplugging and resetting the printer doesn't work, then you have a system board problem. In that case, you'll have to take it to a repair center and it'll probably cost more than the printer is worth to repair it. Sorry.

The page stops feeding about half way through the print. It copies most of the page, but not always all. This happens for about the first 4-5 attempts to print, then will print and feed the whole page.

Hi, This problem might be due to a bad configuration of the printer paper settings. I have seen printer do this when you have selected lets say letter size paper in the software but the printer has A4 configured on the paper size. To verify this you can do the following. With the printer in Ready just click the continue button (green) that should print the Menu Settings page of the printer. Check the Paper Menu settings and make sure the paper size is the same as the one you are sending from your software. If it is not the same you can download a printer configuration utility from here http://bit.ly/93pcBE that will help configure the paper size and type that you want to use. If that is not the problem You can try resetting the printer to Factory Defaults which sometimes helps to get rid of any configuration problems. Here are the steps for that. First turn off the printer, then open the front cover like if you were to take the toner cartridge out. Once the front cover is open then push and hold the two buttons on the panel of the printer and turn the printer on. Make sure the front cover is open and that you are pushing the two buttons all the lights will flash and they will stop at the very bottom light and stay solid once that happens let go of the buttons and close the cover and that should reset the printer.

My Brother HL 5250DN printer has started making a loud clicking sound when it tries to feed paper for printing. It then stops and the paper light starts flashing.

Clear the jammed paper as follows.
Observe Cautions signs in printer.
Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and prevents paper jams.
1. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.
2. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
3. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
4. Close the front cover.
5. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.
6. Open the front cover again.
7. Open the back cover.
8. Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).
9. Using both hands, gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
10. Close the back cover.
11. Pull the duplex tray completely out of the printer.
12. Pull the the jammed paper out of the printer or the duplex tray. Put the duplex tray back in the printer.
13. Push down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
14. Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically.
15. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
16. Put the paper tray firmly back in the printer.
17. Close the front cover.
18. Make sure that the Paper LED is now off and the printer is ready.
After clearing paper jam if noise persist printer may need a Repair Tech and parts replacement for broken or wore parts.

Deskjet 895Cx1 Green and Ornage lights flashing together Problem & solution, please

Please find below the section in the user manual for the printer that tells you what the lights mean. Hope this helps.

Sometimes the lights on the printer signal a problem:

Both lights are off

• The printer is turned off. Press the power button. If you still don’t see the glowing green light, make sure the printer is plugged into a power outlet and that the outlet has power.

Both lights blink
• Paper may be jammed in the printer. Open the front cover and remove any jammed paper. Close the front cover and turn the printer off, then on again. Go to “Clearing a Paper Jam” on page 67.

• The cartridge cradle may be jammed.
Close the front cover, turn the printer off, then on again.
The power light blinks, and the resume light is off
• This is normal behavior when the printer is receiving data, printing, or waiting for ink to dry.

The power light glows steadily, and the resume light blinks
One or both of the inkjet printer cartridges may not be seated properly, or you may have forgotten to remove
the tape from a new inkjet printer cartridge. Open the front cover. Remove both inkjet printer cartridges. Holding the black plastic sides of the inkjet printer cartridge, check to be sure the tape has been removed from the print head. Then replace the inkjet printer
cartridges in the cartridge cradle. Make sure each inkjet printer cartridge is pressed all the way into the cartridge
cradle. If an inkjet printer cartridge feels at all loose, it is not properly seated. For instructions, go to “Insert Print Cartridges” on page 5.

• The front cover may be open. Make sure it is closed.
• There may be no paper in the lower paper tray. Load paper.
• The printer may need to reset. Press and release the Resume button.
• Your computer may be low on memory. Try restarting it.
• Turn the printer off, then on again. (This resets the printer.)
• Repeat the printing process.
Sometimes problems disappear when you try to print your document again.
• Printing problems can often be caused by errors in your applications.

If you can print from the SimpleText or TeachText application but not from another application, it’s probably a problem with that application. Contact the publisher of that application for help.

• Restart your computer.

My x1240 scans but does not copy or print. What do you suggest?

You will need to do the following diagnostic tests to determine the exact cause of the error:

· Remove the ink cartridges

· Perform the self test (test B below)

· Test the ink cartridges

A. To remove the ink cartridges:
Switch the printer on by pressing the green button.
Open the front cover of the printer. The cartridge carrier should move to the center of the opening.
Remove both cartridges.
If the carrier does not move to the center of the opening, you will need to remove the cartridges by hand.
Turn the printer off and remove the power supply cable (the small circular one) from the back of the printer.
Open the front cover of the printer.
Inside the printer, locate the silver metal carrier bar on which the print carriage slides.
Locate the black rubber carrier belt above the carrier bar. This belt has tracks on its inner portion.
Grab the top portion of the belt and move it toward the right. As you move this, the ink cartridge carrier will move to the left. Continue to move the belt until the carrier is in the center of the opening.
Now pull both cartridges out.

B. To perform the self-test:
Disconnect both the power cable and the USB or parallel cable.
After one minute has passed, plug the power supply cable (the small black circular one) back in. (This step is necessary to reset the printer.)
Turn the printer off by pressing the green power button.
Hold down the grey paper feed button.
Turn the printer on by pressing the green button.
After the printer begins to feed paper, release the grey button.
Once the paper exits the printer, press the green button to turn the printer off.

If the power light blinks twelve times while no cartridges are installed, there is a problem with the printer. Please contact our Technical Support Centre for your service options. If this is a new purchase, you can also exchange the printer at the point of purchase. If the paper went through the printer as if printing was occurring, you will need to do some more testing. Continue as instructed below.

C. To test the ink cartridges:
Open the front cover and insert only the black ink cartridge. Make sure that you push it back until it snaps into place.
Close the front cover. If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the black cartridge. If not, proceed to the next step.
Turn the printer off using the green power button.
Hold down the grey paper-feed button.
Turn the printer on using the green button.
After the printer begins to feed paper, release the grey button.
Once the paper exits the printer, press the green button to turn the printer off.
If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the black cartridge. If a page came through with a black line, your black cartridge is working properly.
Now you need to take the black cartridge out and perform the same steps with the color cartridge. If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the color cartridge. If a page came through with colored lines, your color cartridge is working properly.

If one of the cartridges is causing the problem, you will need to replace that cartridge. If it is a new cartridge, please exchange it at the point of purchase, or contact our Technical Support Centre.
