Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message appears and a blinking amber light will come on, on the printer. Holding the paper feed button down for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the counter.

I have the same problem with my PIXMA IP 3300. The ink cartridges have 4 electrical contacts on the front. I think the ink level gauge is controlled with these contacts. This is probably just another ploy from Canon to stop you from refillng these cartridges. If anyone knows a way around this , please let me know

Because these a refills inks the Chip things they are full so you must replace the cartridge with a new Canon one and the fault will go. If not just replace the chip with a new one!

Then your error u150 will go.

I believe you have to press resume to get the non chipped carts to work.At this time there ar no resets available other than the resume.
You will void your warranty.
Call Canon and tell them the printer is not working and take advantage of your 1 year warranty and only use Canon inks from now on or until reset is available.
If you want you can mention that you USED non Canon ink.

How to install or remove ink cartridges To print normally, install or remove ink cartridges in an orderly procedure.

How to install ink cartridges

1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the front cover. The ink cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.

2. Take out an new cartridge from its casing and gently remove the orange protective tape in the direction of an arrow.

Caution: Do not attempt to reattach the protective tape once you have removed it. Do not touch the gold electrical contacts or the print head after removing the protective tape.

3. Insert the color cartridge into the right slot and then the black cartridge into the left slot.
Note: Push up on the nearest side of the cartridge until it clicks into place.

4. Confirm that the ink cartridges are installed properly.

5. Close the front cover. Wait until the preparatory operation is complete; it takes about one to two minutes.

Printer suddenly won't work
  • Replace a new Canon ink cartridge as it could be due to the unique features that Canon has build on their ink cartridge not done properly which resulted to be faulty. Report the issue to Canon if your existing ink cartridge is not from other 3rd party band, Canon should be able to do 1 to 1 exchange once confirmed that it is their ink cartridge problem. Cannon has build the unique feature to prevent users from misusing 3rd party ink cartridge on their printer.
  • Other times if by replacing new ink cartridge the problem for error code still occurs, it might be the pin on the print-head has lost the alighting, this will require for Canon to service to alight back the pin on print-head in order for the printer to operate smoothly again.
  • Or missing pin has dropped off from the print head, which causes the printer not able to read the ink cartridge, printer needs to be serviced.
  • (Maybe check with your own nearby technician if by any lucks they can help to rescue your printer, which I hope Canon does not have further enhancement on their printer with other Unique features to prevent users from using 3rd party technical support.)

Canon MP460 cartridge error
"Verify that you are using Canon(TM) cartridges. The technology has progressed to where they have modified the ink to be identified by their printers. You cannot currently use refill cartridge inks to refill Canon cartridges. If that is not your issue, then try removing and replacing the cartridge(s)and reset the ink level indicator.

Honestly.. There is absolutely no way for Those Canon printers to "look inside" or "Detect" the formulation of ink inside the cartridge...

Canon CL-31, CL-41, CL-51, CL-52 Print cartridges have the highest electronic _Failure_ rate of anything other inkjet cartridge on the market. Canon is aware of this. Replacing the Cartridge is the only sure-fire way of fixing this.

*sometimes the printer will tell you its the color cartridge, when in fact its the black cartridge. its advised to replace them both during these error messages.. it'll save you a trip, and the customer service rep's head. haha"

Using an Aftermarket or "re-filled" canon original cartridge is a sustainable resource for anyone looking to re-use an end-user item, and save money in this "tied-selling" market.

I proved you wrong by replacing my inkjets with Oringinal Canon PG-40 black, and CL-41 color cartridge. I ran them until they were empty. Bypassed the Ink Metering System explained to me through the canon software provided during the printer installation, and continued to print with them until they were 110% bone dry empty, laying absolutely no ink on the page. this took approx. 3 hours from perfect start, to finish.

If "canon printers have progressed so much as to distinguish formulations of ink" then.. this canon sure was the PICK of the litter. it continued to print *** as the day it was purchased, while not laying a single droplet of ink on the page.

get a life. stop dissing the aftermarket with your un-supported facts!
