Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

Electrolux EWN 14991 washing machine - anti flooding device has activated - says to check inlet/drain pipes - have done but cannot see any problem - I did wash down some stoggy washing powder that had built up in the drawer - could I have blocked something ? How do I get the machine to start or finish the cycle, the pump continues to run even when switched to off but if I turn to a programme it messages flashed again.

Hi

If the washer won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the pressure/water level switch assembly. Inspect the inlet hose coming to the washer for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the pressure/water level switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Machine is stuck on drain

You did not specify which model of the washing machine you have. It can be:
- a blocked drain pump, filter, drain hose..... and the pressure switch can not switch to "empty" position.
- faulty pressure switch
- activated anti-flooding device

I have a electrolux Insight EWN 14991 W which I have for over 2 years. The problem is that it keeps coming up to make sure door is closed properly which it is. It stills refuses to go through a cycle. ...

It sounds like the micro door switch could be intermittently faulty. Switch unit off from power supply and unplug for 10 minutes. Restart. If problem reoccurs then you will need a service call.

THE anti flood device has been activated. I have emptied the salt tank, how do I reset the safety valve on the water inlet hose?

The answer is that you don't reset the anti-flood device. The anti-flood device re-sets itself when there is no risk of a leak. I don't really understand why you emptied the salt tank . . . ?

I cannot help you any further than this as you haven't specified your brand and model of dishwasher. If you can post these, I will try try to help further - if it's a model I support.

What do you do if the Miele washing machine's check drain and inlet light is on?

The flood protection device has activated. This is caused by a leak in the machine. It can also be caused if you are not careful when checking the drain pump, water may have gone back into appliance and activated flood protection device. If this is the case Tip machine forward, water in base of appliance will run out, and appliance will work.

Stopped

This is a typical Anti Flood system activation. This system activates when water leaks onto the floor of the machiene due to a leak fault (pipe/hose clamp/ partly blocked pipe). The machiene automatically switches to pump out mode and stops water inlet. The anti flood system is a polystireen float / micro switch at the base of the machiene floor. Dry the floor and drectify the leak and it should work.

My bosch dishwasher does not fill with water (although it drains)

most bosch have the inlet valve at the end of the fill pipe and it has an anti-flood device.
try turning off the water, take off the fill pipe then reconnect it and see if this works.
taking off the fill pipe resets the anti-flood device
