Question about RCA Televison & Video
I bought my tv 7 years ago. an after 2 years i had to replace the bulb. it work d fin till a cupple months ago an my 2 hdmi jacks quit working. then little wite dots started showing up on the screen .an after 5 hours of watching. the power button would flash an the picture would go out an come back on a few mins latter. my model is m50wh92syx1 . i would like to fix it if posible thank you
The white dots indicate a problem with the optical light engine---Parts for this set are very expensive and my suggestion would be NOT to repair it but replace it.
If you want some more information Google the model with "problems" to see what the common issues are fot this set

If you still own this tv, you need to consider changing the DLP operating chip. This part is part of the light engine located in the DMD module. (the silver clad box) you need only a screwdrivers, probably # 10 torx to chage this part. It's available from ShopJimmy @ http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-4719-001981-dlp-chip.htm
This will repair the starry night syndrome on a DLP television.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

had same problem. update tv software with a usb drive. do not take the tv apart. its easy download to computer unzip to usb drive and put drive in right side of tvs usb slot with power off, then turn power on, you should get an update screen.
did not work for me the first time i had to format usb drive to fat (not fat32) and then unziped to the drive took 10 minutes to update. I have tv 60PP9200D/37

Sounds like the light engine is going bad...that's why they stopped making these rear projection sets using LCD's. Costs almost as much as a new set! But get a second opinion before trashing it.

Check the Lamp Fan if it is defective Lamp will try to light but will shut off, And the Ballast board is what turns Lamp on, For Part number o to Encompass parts distrubtion and type in your model they should list the ballast board and PN Then go to Ebay Look under Electronics type in PN, I got mine for $65.00
Lamp for $85.00

SOURCE: We have a Sony Wega
First of all, 3 times blinking red light indicates that lamp cover is not in place or fixed securely after checking lamp in tv, make sure lamp cover is fixed properly.
Regarding multi-colored lines running vertically across the entire screen problem, it seems problem with light engine (optical block) that generates image to project on front screen of tv, visual check by professional is required to confirm and replacement of light engine.
Lamp is light source in this tv similar to multimedia projector that throws image on wall/ big screen etc.
Light engine is bit costly part that seems need to be replaced to fix multi-colored lines running vertically across the entire screen issue.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.

You need a new dlp chip. The tiny Micro mirrors inside of it are getting stuck and there is no way of freeing them. You can either buy a new light engine which is very expensive or buy a new DLP chip and change it yourself. It takes about 30 minutes to do and is very easy. I have the DLP chip for $225 new. Other places will charge you about $345. email@example.com
