The dishwasher is stuck in drain mode because there is water in a catch leak area underneath, it may have been caused by soap suds over flow or disposal backup. Remove bottom kick plate and vacuum out any water, then run dishwasher again and look for water leaks.

The flood switch is tripped. This is located under the unit. Unplug or flip the breaker to the dishwasher, take off the black kick plate under the door, 2 screws, and you will see the white plastic "pan". The flood switch is located where you can't really see it but it is on the left hand side wall and is made of styrofoam. The best thing to do is to put some rags in the pan, this is not easy because there is little room to put them, and soak-up the water that has filled the pan. Eventually you will get enough water out that the float will deactivate the switch. What you hear "running" when you turn it on is actually the drain pump, it get activated when the flood switch is tripped.

An error 24 code on your Bosch dishwasher means that you have a clog or that your pump is bad. Check and clean out your airgap. If that doesn’t work and your machine is still under warranty, call Bosch. Bosch won’t tell you what the error code means, only that you need a service call, and they will then give you some phone numbers for Bosch authorized appliance repair places, one of which was Mr. Appliance. The appliance repair place will want to put in a new part whether you need it or not so that they can get paid by Bosch. I found this out the hard way. Hey Bosch, be smart and tell your customers what the error codes mean so that they are informed and you don’t look like you are trying to rip them off. Leave that to Mr. Appliance. You can always remind the customer that working on the actual dishwasher voids the warranty. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to clean out the airgap, which isn’t a part of the dishwasher, but rather part of your plumbing connected to the dishwasher. I suspected this to begin with, but because you told me I needed a service call, I had to assume it was beyond basic owner maintenance. Great way for you to flush money down the toilet and look bad doing so.

SOURCE: I have a bosch dishwasher
Error code 24 for a bosch dishwasher is either a bad pump or a plugged drain or airgap. This is where your washer connects to the plumbing system. If you are under warranty have it fixed if not I would start by seeing if your system and make sure it isn't plugged first. After that it could be the pump has failed.
Hope this helps
