SOURCE: my huffy stalker fs front

Tighten the bolt that is in the center of the handlebar piece. As well as the nuts/bolts on the lower part of the shaft that comes up and connects to the handle bars. Hard to explain. But just align things right, and tighten everything up on the entire wheel/handlebar assembly.

Got my brand new huffy a few weeks ago. everytime I shift gears, the chain comes off. we try to adjust the Derailleur, but the front one don't go all the way to the large sprocket. what do

If you purchased from a reputable bike dealer take it back. I have never heard of a dealer who does not offer a free checkup when the bike is a few weeks old because cables do stretch.

Huffy stalker 18 speed, I can't tighten the stem.

If you are talking about the handle-bar stem, the bolt you need to tighten is right in the middle of the post. It may have a snap-on plastic cover over it. This will be the head of a long bolt that reaches down inside of the stem where the nut is shaped as a wedge that serves to tighten inside the tube of the front fork. If you are talking about the the seat-post, then your seat-post might be of too small diameter. This page shows a good picture of the handle-bar stem bolt and wedge nut.

Just purchased a Huffy bicycle today from Academy - I have never had a bicycle with gears before - Is it normal that the gears switch when you don't switch them? This is all new to me!

The rear derailleur needs to be adjusted to stop this from happening. Put the bike in third gear and flip it over onto the seat. Spin the wheels and turn the adjuster until it starts to try and shift into 2nd, then back it off a couple of clicks. Problem solved.

The chain wants to jump off while trying to change gears

There are several things that could be wrong:

Shifter out of adjustment

Chain worn

Chain and gear(s) worn

Shifter out of adjustment:
Try adjusting the cable tension by turning the barrel (the part between the cable and the shifter). Count the number of turns and reset it to its original position if this doesn't solve it.

Chain worn:
Chains wear out. hold a ruler up to it, with one end centered on a pin. 12" away, another pin should like up very very very close to the 12" mark. If not, it's probably worn out and needs to be replaced. No way around it. Some say chains are good for 500 miles only. Your mileage may vary. (keep reading...)

Chain worn and gear(s) worn:
If the bike has been ridden witha worn chain for a while, it will make the gears in the back wear faster too, and a new chain alone will not work. If this is the case, you need a new chain and new gears in the back. Often, gears in the back are replaced all at once in a 'cassette'. You'll have to make sure your front gears aren't worn out too!
