Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have a Samsung HT-C453N plugged into a Samsung 60inch TV, the HT goes into the TV via HDMI. My PS3 and my Xbox both went into the HT via optical cable (with a splitter) and surround sound was fine. When my extremely old Xbox went kaput I bought a new one, hooked it up same as before except now the Xbox goes into the TV via HDMI (original one didn't have that option) and the surround sound for that works fine, but that very same day the HT stopped interacting with my TV correctly. The DVD player doesn't override the TV like it should (doesn't load up the right channel when you turn it on and sound still comes through the TV when the Xbox is meant to be on surround sound) and my PS3 surround sound doesn't work at all now. Still won't work when Xbox is unplugged, all other wires have been changed, HT has had settings restored to default and still no luck, any help would be appreciated.

i know this is going to sound stupid but i couldn't get mine to work either after following every instruction to the T. I then rechecked my optical digital connections again and found that I neglected to remove one on the rubber protective endings. I took it off and plugged the end back into my TV and BINGO! THEATER SOUND from my tv!

SOURCE: cannot get surround sound to work with Philips hts3106/f7 andonic tcp50g25. It works fine for Blue ray via the hdmi out of philips dvd/receiver, but not for xbox or cable etc (only works in stereo).
i have the same system. all you have to do is when you connect your xbox 360, press the surround button on the remote and then use the arrow buttons to change it to dolby music pro2 or multi channel audio. same goes with any device you connect. hope it helps. In my case the xbox is connected to the Tv via HDMI and bluray player is connected to xbox via compoent cable
