This may be helpful:

Pfixing the Pfaff

Most likely there is a worn groove or a rough spot that has caught the thread. I have an older machine that has an issue and have had to cover the spot with duct tape, although there may be other fixes.

If you are concerned about doing it yourself, just take it to a sewing repair shop and see if they can fix it there for you.

Bobbin wont move

Not sure if you have had your question answered, but I've been down that road and it drove me nuts!! Simple solution: reset the clutch. There's a silver button in the middle of the bed, push it down, and hand rotate the wheel in the opposite direction until it clicks. Now it should work. (it's a built in safety feature that trips when something is wrong so you don't destroy your machine)

I have a 10 yr. old Baby Lock Esante that when trying to fill a bobbin, I get this error message: Safety device has operated. Check if thread is tangled or if needle is bent, then the machine stops. Does...

I would suggest rethreading the machine to make sure the thread is not caught somewhere, & even change the needle or check to make sure the needle is in correctly & pushed all the way up in the needle holder
& if that doens't help then take it back to the repair shop & tell them about the problem

Machine was embroidering perfectly and then it just started knotting up under the fabric.

I was having the same problem, it was the bobbin, have to keep trying different brands till you find the one that works, the one that comes with it does not, for me anyways.

Stop for Safety Purposes ?

I have had this happen to me many times. It really does feel as though the problem is in the bobbin, but it's not. After much aggrivation I took it into the repair shop and found out the thred was comming unhooked on the top not in the bobbin. It still happens all the time but I know what it is now so I just rethred the top.
