My Canon NP 1215 completes the warm up process on the first use in the mornings but fails to complete on subsequent attempts during the day. On suggestions from technicians I checked on lose connections on the DC controller, but was not successful. Please help me out. Thank you. Michael

I have a source where I can find cannibalized parts, that is why I said the solution is inappropriate. No offense.

Xerox Phaser 4500 printer has a U4 fuser code.

Hi,

From the Xerox Phaser 4500 Service Manual (here), the main problems could be one of:

  • Warm-up failure - Fuser warm-up not complete within 110 seconds after
  • starting.
  • Cool-down error - Cool-down process not complete within 200 seconds.
  • Low trouble temperature - The fuser temperature drops to the low trouble
  • temperature (approximately current control temperature, minus
  • approximately 25°C).
  • High trouble temperature - The fuser temperature rises to the high trouble
  • temperature (approximately current control temperature, plus
  • approximately 35°C).
  • STS circuit open
  • STS failure - The heat rod remains on for at least 10 seconds after warm-
  • up has completed

It could be that your fuser needs to be replaced, but as you can see that code relates to a couple of problems, so even replacing the Fuser might not fix the problem.

If it doesn't even do the warm up checks it is likely to be the fuser because the other components such as STS failure and cooldown won't have had a chance to run..

Canon NP-4050 printing almost completely black pages

This problem appears to be that the scanlamp cable has fatigued and become open-circuit. This can be checked by selecting A3 and pressing the START button while having the lid up. Watch to see if the light stays on all the way through the forward pass of scan cycle, it can be intermittent. Make sure that the machine is unplugged before attempting to replace the cable. The drum is definitely on its way out at that amount of copies, but can be made to last a fair bit longer with some fine-tuning.
