SOURCE: WPA on a hp ze4805us laptop

I've had a ZE4805US for almost 4 years, and use a linksys wrt54gs wireless router. I use WPA encryption it works just fine for me. Everytime i reload the system with xp from the hp discs WPA is not in the options. The only thing i had to do to get it was do windows update + sp2. Then it's right there in the wireless settings. Hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: HP wireless problem

When you look at the properties for your wireless adapeter, does it say enabled?
On most laptops you'll have a key that has Fn on it. This is your function key. Hold it down, and look for a key that has what looks like a little radio transmission tower on it. Press that key (while holding the Fn key), and see if you get a pop up stating that your wireless is enabled or disabled (usually it pops up with the no symbol through it).
Try this a couple of times, with a few minutes inbetween to see if you can get it to reenable again.

SOURCE: Cant connect to my wireless network anymore???

NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller drivers may have messed up your network drivers , since your network card is broadcom or intel pro, and it is not there.

Try reinstalling the wireless lan drivers.

You can download the wireless network card driver from link below:

Select software and drivers

In there you find different wireless drivers, download and install them all, the computer will automatically chose the correct ones.

You will have to enter your wireless network key again after reinstalling drivers.

Download drivers under Ubuntu for HP ENV 4500 e-All-in-One Series?

Hi Frank,

HP is one of the most supported printers for Linux. I run Mint (based on Ubuntu) & have had support for even older models for years now. Have you tried installing it w/o bothering w/drivers at all? Basically, you turn on the printer, open the printers dialog>add new>then click network printer (assuming you're using the wi-fi on the printer). In Mint, I usually wait 1-2 mins. & it comes up with the printer listed by IP automatically. Now, I'm speaking of Mint- not 100% sure on Ubuntu but it ought to be very similar...

If that somehow doesn't work, then go here & follow the excellent walkthrough:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Please report back if it solves it for you.

Cheers from Australia!

Install printers

What OS are you using? Win 7? Is the Printer and the netbook on the same network? Setup the Printer on the Access Point/wireless device that the Netbook is connected to, make discoverable, turn on wireless, on the Netbook, Start menu, Open Devices and Printers, click on Add a Printer, All a Network, Wireless printer, follow the setup. Lost internet connection linux mint 14

Installing your wireless driver on a Linux distribution is only half the battle.
Once it's installed, you have to configure it.
This means adding the network name, or SSID (service set identifier), and the passkey for your wireless network.
In older versions of Linux, this had to be done with the "iwconfig" command line tools.
Luckily, Linux Mint has incorporated a graphical utility for configuring your Ethernet and wireless adapters.
Open the "Control Center," which will be found under the main program menu on the bottom right of your computer screen.
Click the "Network Connections" icon under the "Internet and Network" section.

Click the "Wireless" tab in the "Network Connections" window.

Click the "Add" button.

Type the name for your wireless network in the "SSID" text box.

Choose one of the options under the "Mode" drop-down list. Most users will choose the "Infrastructure" option.

Click the "Security" tab.

Choose your network's security protocol from the "Security" drop-down list.

Type the key for your wireless network in the "Key" text box.

Click "Apply" to save the changes.

Click the network connection icon in the task bar. It will look like two computers and can be found next to the clock.

Click on the name of your wireless connection to connect to the network.

Activate a Wi-Fi Card for Linux Mint
Log into Mint as user root. Launch a command shell, either by logging in in text mode or by launching a Terminal window from the graphical desktop.

Type the following command into the shell:
iwconfig
Press "Enter." Make a note of the name chosen by Linux Mint for your Wi-Fi card it will be the only word displayed flush with the left edge of the screen.

Type the following command into the shell:
iwlist wlan0 scan
Replace "wlan0" with the name of the Wi-Fi card you noted earlier.
Press "Enter."
Mint will display a list of the wireless networks in range that you can potentially join.

Type the following command into the shell:
iwconfig wlan0 essid library-wireless
Replace "library-wireless" with the name of the network you want to join, from the list generated by the "iwlist" command. Linux Mint will join the network.
At this point you can browse the Web and access the Internet in other ways via the Wi-Fi card on your computer.

Short answer - yes!
Any USB wireless adapter will work if you can find a driver for your Operating System. So when you order it, make sure that your OS is supported (Windows, Linux, etc...)

You can use 'Safe mode with networking' (press F8 when computer start few times in 1 second interval, and menu with this option will come). Going to ESET (Nod32) Online Scanner:
http://go.eset.com/us/online-scanner

Scan computer with recover-cleaning option on.
Some viruses are hard to clean, and one of option is using live CD linux (Mint) and share partitions, and than connect with network cable and clean with antivirus from another computer.

You have free good AVG antivirus (for home users).

Windows without antivirus is very bad thing.

For that purpose, I use linux Mint (based Ubuntu and Debian). And don't need antivirus software.
Good luck!

I have some problems about my pc,after i try to install anti virus esset nod32,i proceed to scan my computer after scanning all my files in local c,some file are infected and the os cannot run.what can i...

When you start your computer, press F8 button few times every 1 second. You need on black screen option to go into 'Safe mode with networking'. It will start windows in protected mode. Go to browser and Internet (you must have configured network card with gateway to Internet).
From http://go.eset.com/us/online-scanner download scanner utility and try to clean computer.

Some viruses are so hard to clean. One of option is to use live CD linux (boot from CD linux Mint, burn iso from Mint page). Start sharing of partition with Samba sharing (in Mint Control Panel). You must create network too. With another clean computer, you can scan this partitions with antivirus. In that sharing Windows (and virus) are not live, and it can be scanned, and cleaned.

But this will not solve all modification on Windows from viruses action.

Sometimes is only option formating of partitions and reinstalling of windows. This is last options...
AVG is good free antivirus for home use.
Good luck!

How to remove the virus and how to install anti-virus without virus blockage?

You can try press F8 key when computer start (few times in interval of one second) and going to Windows Safe mode with networking. Going to ESET (NOD32) online scanner with browser: http://www.eset.com/home/products/online-scanner/ and install it, and try to scan your computer. If viruses are well known, you can be lucky.
Another way is start computer with live-CD linux (Mint), and share disk partitions (samba option in control panel). Connect computer with another computer with network cable, and scan with its antivirus software.
AVG is good antivirus software and it is free for home use. Avira is another free, but it has not mail scanning.
Sometimes damage from virus on operation system is very hard to solve. It is best to save data (you can use live linux to do that too), and reinstall OS. Sometimes, after cleaning, just update of windows can help. Because of that kind of problem, I use linux Mint (it is safe, virus free, and easy for install).

I am going to buy a Rocoh Aficio 1600 Le. Does it work on Ubuntu and Linux Mint without problem

Are you going to be connecting this directly to a computer? Or are you going to set this up on a network?

Either way, it should work.

For Network Printing, you will need to setup a print server on your Ubuntu, or Mint Linux, and tell the print server what the IP Address of the printer is.

You shouldn't have any issues.
