Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I had an unbalanced load in my washer that forced the door open. Now, my machine will not come back on. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and still nothing. How can I fix it.

I tried to wash pillows and the load got off balance when it tried to spin and while it was happening the door got forced open. Now the machine will not turn back on.

It sounds like a problem with the control board.  You will need to have the unit checked out by a qualified LG technician and possibly replace the board.

SOURCE: can't open door of lg wd-1018c washing machine

Hi, I don't know if this is much help to you now as it has been a while since you posted your problem. I had the exact same problem and after a lot of swearing and 2 days and no help what so ever from LG I took matters into my own hands.

I took the top off the the machine and removed the small steel plate, you will know what I am talking about after you have done the same.

I had my hubby hold the tub back as far as possible and used a screw driver to release the latch which is at the front of the machine about half way down. You will see a small silver steel knobby looking thing. After the machine was finally opened I unscrewed the screws on the inside of the door and used a flat screw driver to prise the housing apart. Be careful not to drop the glass window as when the housings start coming apart the window is no longer secure.

I found that a small piece of plastic on the handle had perished and broken not allowing the correct function. A phone call to Sunstate spare parts got the new handle to me within a few days at a cost of $20.95.

My only problem now is putting the bloody thing back together. I have been at it for 3 days with no sucess. If you manage to work out how to put yours together please let me know. I hope this has helped and hasnt come too late.
Cherie.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question(*&^%$#

Possible unbalanced load in the washer. I have found this to be the case in other types of top load washers. Just redistribute the load the try again. If this works, washer is doing what it needs to do to keep from spinning madly out of control and extending its life!

Error code UL with 12 minutes remaing on each load

hi,

This error code indicates that an unbalanced load is detected.

if the load is unbalanced, the washer will display this code while attempting to balance the load at the end of the wash cycle and before the final spin. If the code remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, open lid and redistribute the load. Close lid and press Start/Pause.

If the washer is not level, the washer may be more sensitive to unbalanced loads. The washer must be level from side to side and from front to back. The front and rear feet must be in firm contact with the floor. Make sure the locknuts are tightened.

If Power/Cancel or Pause/Cancel does not work
Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
Re-select the cycle and press Start/Pause.

I can't get the washer to unlock. The cycle is stuck and I think the load is unbalanced but I can't get the washer door electronic lock to open even after I turn the washer off and unplug it

Manual Door Unlocking Procedure for Maytag Neptune Top Load Washers
  1. Safety first. Unplug the machine.
  2. Insert a plastic putty knife blade in the front edge of the machine between the top cover and the cabinet and in line with the lid seam on the left and on the right.
  3. Push in to release the latches holding the top cover to the cabinet.
  4. Lift the front of the top cover and release the lid from the lid locks.
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness from the lid locks. Clean the terminals to ensure good connection.
  6. Reconnect the lid locks wiring harness and push the top cover back into the cabinet until the latches lock up.
Please let me know if the problem comes back for further troubleshooting and repair guide.

Door will not close all the way washer will not start cycle

Has the door been forced beyond the 'open' stop? If so, it may have a bent door hinge. Check the latch mechanism for anything broken or bent. Unplug the machine for a few minutes, then reinsert the plug. You may have to open the top to access the internal latch mechanism if necessary.(pull the plug if you do so) Hope some of this helps.

Problems with the washer

The manual for this model says the washer has tried unsuccessfully to unlock the washer. It suggests you ensure the door is firmly closed and to try again, if this fails then to unplug your unit for 2 minutes to allow the circuit board to reset.

So far as the clothes being wet, you may have a situation where the load became unbalanced and the drum struck the interior floor of the washer where a switch is located. This swich is designed to stop an unbalanced spin cycle from damaging the machine. To reset this, remove the four screws inside the doors opening. This will remove the door and allow you to pull off the face of the washer. On the base of the drum where you will find a switch. Depress (push upwards) on the button and ensure it is in the outer most position to reset the switch.

Washer won't rinse

when yr washer does not rinse, it could be that your outlet is clogged. Ensure that yr outlet filter is free from any kind of blockage. Check this, it is a small door in front of the machine bottom. Plug off the wall & clean out, expect some water to come out when you open it. If this is not the case check out your outlet pump.
