Change the batteries in your remote. If your cat was laying on a button it could have drained them.

Here's tip - you can use your camera on your cell phone to see the IR signal coming out of your remote. Point the remote at your cam and press "On" or any button. You should see a bright flash with every key stroke.

SOURCE: Amber light issue vw32l lcd Vizio

Its easier to open up your tv, look at the mainboard id number. Then do a search on google or ebay for the parts. Its alot easier then trying to troubleshoot the actual circuit board, unless your an electronic engineer.

SOURCE: I have a Vizio VX37l and was watching it and then

It sounds like the 5vdc standby circuit is still working, that is why the main fuse is still good but you may have bad 24vdc power supply, look real close again for blown transistors or IC on the power supply board, but it can also be the backlight inverter circuit boards that blew up also. Look here to see what good parts look like:

When plugged in, why do only the Vizio letters on the front light up in amber?

There could be an open fuse off board. The lighted Vizio letters merely confirm power is getting to the TV.

There is weird letters popping up on the screen

Ok..........un plug the set and your cable or sat reciever.........plug back in to reboot sure your set up shows captions and text "off"
Next step if this does not solve is to play a dvd and see if ok. this will separate the tv from your cable or sat reciever. If still continues your set may have corrupted data in the eeprom and need main board. Try the ez stuff first!!
