would you know where to get a replacement protective screen. mitsubishi states they dont make it or have any more in stock. this piece of lexan has a purple uv tint to it and the glass company can not find the lexan.

I'M A 30 YR SERVICE TECH.
ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN THERE IS A BLACK STRIP OF PLASTIC. SLIDE A CREDIT CARD OR SCREW DRIVER IN BETWEEN THE SCREEN AND THE STRIP (CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH THE SCREEN) AND REMOVE THE STRIP. USE SCREW DRIVE AT THE MID POINT OF THE SIDE OF THE SCREEN TO BOW SCREEN OUT AND REMOVE SCREEN.

You will need to pull the bottom of the unit off, this is just a snap on speaker grille across the bottom... then you will remove the screws across the bottom of the grey frame holding the screen... un plug the 2 plugs going to the control panel buttons, lift UP then OUT and it will come off.. once off, lay face down on a blanket and you can remove the frame screws INSIDE to pull out the protective screen. I took mine off to stop all of the glare problems. Also, while you have the screen off, clean your mirror and lenses since they will be easily accessible.. windex will do the job well, just make sure not to leave a bunch of lint from paper towels!

I have one here, but you dont HAVE to have the tinted lexan, clear would work perfectly fine.. Also, the method that was mantioned below mine works as well, and is actually the way mitsubishi says to do it, but you risk marring up the plastic surrounding of the screen doing it that way..

Im sorry, mine is the 65 inch, not the 55 inch... any class shop should be able to cut you a piece of lexan or acrylic <-(harder to scratch) if you bring them the old piece, or measurements.

The screen shield of my mitsubishi HD 1080 diamond projection tv is scratched and shows rainbow color dots in some places. What can I do? Can I fix it? Replace it?

The outer screen on most models is clear and called a protective screen and prevents glare---if it has that it has 2 more screens behind it.

Getting at the outer on is not so easy---the entire frame for the screens has to be removed, the inner screens removed to get at the outer screen to remove it (if 3 screens you can do without the outer one except if it got scratched before--next will be the next screen behind it.

Check with mitsubishi to see if the screen that is damaged is available or not.

How do i remove a large scratch on my rear projection tv

I'm sorry, but you don't. It is probibally the protective cover that is scratched and not the screen itself. You should be able to take off the protective cover and replace it. Or you can just leave it off, but you risk damaging the screen itself when you do this.

Small scratches on tv screen, can I fix it?

The only way to completely get rid of the scratches is to replace the screen. If you want to get a new replacement protective screen for this model, here is a link from a major parts distributor:

Scratch in sreen

By the looks of that picture, it's hard for me to believe that the scratch is not on the outside of the protective plexiglass screen. However, you can remove the protective screen w/o negative effect of the picture. In fact, it will probably reduce the glare from light on the screen. If, in fact, the scratch is still seen w/o the protective screen installed, then it is the lenticular screen that is scratched.
The lenticular screen is the one with the vertical grooves from top to bottom in it. The fresnal is the back screen that appears to have been lathed in a circular pattern.

Sctratches on 46" lcd tv. Two of which is noticeable in dark scenes.(White lines) How do I fix this?

used thse methods myself
Vaseline Method
  1. Clean the surface of the screen.
  2. Take some Vaseline and fill the scratch with it.
  3. Gently wipe off the excess Vaseline, being careful not to press too deeply so as to leave some inside the scratch.
  4. Voila. This works because the optical density more closely matches the LCD face than air.

Pencil Eraser Method
  1. Find a pencil with a clean, soft eraser. It must have no pencil graphite on it as you won't want to smudge that on your monitor.
  2. Lightly rub the eraser over the scratch or nick on the screen.
  3. Keep rubbing until the scratch completely disappears

Scratches in my LCD Television Screen (sony bravia) How will I fix this?

Easiest solution is the stuff you buy to fix your glasses with (Lens cpr), so long as it's a small scratch. Larger scratches don't try to fix you can damage the screen further.

Other solutions (though I recommend only at your own risk)
Vaseline Method
Clean the surface of the screen.
Take some Vaseline and fill the scratch with it.
Gently wipe off the excess Vaseline, being careful not to press too deeply so as to leave some inside the scratch.
Voila. This works because the optical density more closely matches the LCD face than air.

Pencil Eraser Method

Lightly rub the eraser over the scratch or nick on the screen.
Keep rubbing until the scratch completely disappears [1].

Scratched tv screen

I replaced the screen on my 62 inch projection TV for about $50 and the the picture quality is good! Have a sheet of plexiglass cut to the EXACT size needed. BEFORE installation it MUST be frosted on both sides by either a fine particle sandblaster or by sanding it VERTICALLY on BOTH sides with a power sander and a fine grade paper.
If this is only an OUTER protective screen and the image is projected on the inner screen then DO NOT frost the replacement screen, just install it.
