There is usually a 5/8" groove on the needleplate. If not, manually move the needle down into the needleplate, then measure 5/8" from the needle and mark with a piece of painter's tape.

SOURCE: Bernina Virtuosa 150 and uneven layers or bulk.

Hi I have a 15 year old Frister Rossmann serger which I got second hand 10 years ago. It has had one break down which was my fault for not getting it serviced for 8 years. Not sure where in world you are. They sell as Frister Rossmann in UK and Europe and Kenmore in the US. I've used it mainly for dressmaking and soft furnishing projects. One more thought on the Bernina have you tried leaving a query / searching on the US Bernina website www.berninausa.com I use them alot. Try and stick with getting the Bernina sorted, I love mine! Try cleaning and oiling your machine (refer to the owner's manual). Perhaps the stitch width selector has become stuck with old oil. Mechanical Berninas should be cleaned and oiled regularly--it every time a bobbin is changed, every 8 hours of constant sewing, or every 6 months of non-use.

Turned machine on, started to sew(about 4"), machine beeped, screen started flashing off & on, then it went off. Will not restart. Tried a new cord and that wasn't the problem

Look at your seam. If you have a bunch of balled up thread underneath the seam, part of the problem is operator error. Always always grasp the thread end while beginning the seam. I suspect that the thread gut bunched up under the material and caught up in the bobbin/shuttle area.

Remove the fabric, unplug the machine... get into the bobbin area, remove the bobbin, and if necessary clean threads caught up in the bobbin race/shuttle. reassemble and replace the bobbin... turn on the machine. Try again.

Bernina minimatic 707 not sewing evenly

Sounds like it's not threaded properly and or you have tension problems. Re-thread with the presser foot UP. Sew a test seam. If you still get loops loosen the upper tension... a little at a time. Sew tests seam after each adjustment.

Take your machine to an authorized Bernina dealer for service.

Proper service and care will ensure the value of the machine.

This brand holds it's value better than any other brand and always resells for good prices on Ebay.

You can check the Bernina website for dealers in your area.

Upper thread will not catch bobbin thread

Your machine is out of time. It would be best to have a tech adjust the timing.
