Question about Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

1 Answer

My rainbow vacuum tipped over while I was vacuuming and motor quit. I unplugged it. Do I have to do something special or is the computer ruined?

My rainbow is a wet vacuum that is run by a computer. It is only a bit over a year old. I am very careful to never let water sit in it and when it tipped over, water ran out the hose. I have disconnected everything and have the motor part sitting on the carpet.

SOURCE: Rainbow E Series Suction Problem

Being an E series some have a corrgated filter in the top, there is also a filter on the back. Could be a motor problem, not turning as fast as it should, in which case you will have to replace the motor. You might check, some had a 10 year warranty on the motor. If you are the original owner and only have had it 5 years, then it may be covered.

I just ran my rainbow e series accidentally without the separator. What should I do?

Your Rainbow should be o.k if you completely dried it out. But rinsing the hepa filter has usually not worked out well for most people (soory for that news) but good news is that they should last around 8 to 10 years with no rinsing.

My Rainbow E Series Vacuum won't turn on at all after it just worked fine

Allowing to sit on water pan for only 3 hours is not going to kill your Rainbow by itself. If there is no more information to this issue than what you described, the problem could be the motor is going bad and the thermal cut off is tripped. Possible reason it didn't do it while you were running the unit, is the motor cooling fan kept the temperature inside the motor just below the tripping point and then when you turned the machine off, this allowed the temperature to creep up past the limit and trip the thermal cut off.

Rainbow vacuum won't power on.

Do you have it on the water pan? All models above the eSERIES will not run without the water pan.

My rainbow vacuum is spitting water

Where is the water coming out? If it's coming through an exhaust port, then it's gone through the motor, which will ruin the motor. If the motor does still run, stop using immediately and take it to a repair shop for thorough drying and possible cleaning. This must be done immediately to prevent rusting. It may already be too late, and a new motor will be necessary.

Rainbow Vacuum, about 5 yrs old (bought new, no issues prior) - my 6yr old tipped it on it's side while water was in basin. Now when I turn the power on, it makes a very loud sound in the motor and you can...

Although a wet/dry vacuum, it cannot tolerate water in the motor. Water will cause the motor to short out, which will cause the motor to act/sound like yours does now, if it continues working at all.
To prevent additional problems, the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Rexair dealer for cleaning and repair. Expect at the very least to pay for a new motor and installation.
Problems like this are why I don't care for any wet/dry vacuums, especially spendy ones.
Oh, you should definitely discontinue use, and don't attempt repairs on your own. Special tools are needed, and if bolts and screw are rusted, breakage may result.

Hi, there is no reset button on a Rainbow vacuum. There is a safety switch on all E series and E2 series Rainbow vacuums, that keep it from running without the water basin on it.
If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,
