Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Both openers stopped working at the same time but they are both plugged in to an outlet that still has power. The lights are out on the opener wall switches. Wife thought she smelled electrical smoke when she accedently pushed both buttons at the same time. That shouldn't matter. How could two seperate machines go out at the same time? Is there a reset button on the openers that I don't know about?

Do you have a surge protector. Did it go bad. Some kill power when they get cooked. Did you have a lightning storm. Culd have cooked logic boards.

Garage door only opens sometimes with remotes< and exterior keypad. always works with wall mount button.

Check the light bulbs in the opener. Newer fluorescent or LED bulbs can generate enough radio frequency interference that the normal signal levels from the remote will be inadequate.
Of course, make sure the remote batteries are fresh.

My craftman 139.52606 opener does not have a learn button to set pin on keypad. I had keypad working at one time but since I changed the battery I can't rember how to reset the keypad.I also changed...

If the keypad is hardwired, do this:

To program the keypad, first unplug the garage door opener from the electrical outlet. Next, remove the nameplate from the console that the keypad plugs into and locate the program/operate switch. Flip the switch to program. Next, enter your desired four-digit PIN number into the keypad. Slide the switch back to operate and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad should be programmed.

I have a sears craftmans garage door opener that just stopped working all of a sudden are there batteries or soemthing I coul dbe checking?

There is a battery in the remote and wireless keypad but there are none in the opener itself. Check the outlet for power. Plug in a lamp or radio. Make sure the circuit breaker in your house hasn't popped.

Door opener looses power

Motor has a thermal sensor if it gets too hot it trips the sensor till it cools down. Motor may be going bad, or door may have gottin to heavy ( spring loose tension over time) disconnect door from operator. You should be able to raise it easily manually.

I have a liftmaster garage door opener 1/3 hp. One side has a green light the other has a yellowish orange lignt on and it has stopped working. What is wrond with it?

Check for power at the outlet. Plug in a small radio or lamp. If you have power there I would remove the logic board and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board especially around the small transformer.

Craftsman 1/2 HP Starts AND Stops Going Up or Down

with the age of the door, chances are it just doesn't move as easily as it once did causing the built in limiters to stop the door. the limiters are designed to stop the door from crushing something or someone if the safety beams fail and there is an obstruction in the path of the door. Some units allow you to raise (increase) the force used to move the door. Most times the adjustment screws are hidden either behind the light lens or behind a removable panel. The limiter screws are NOT the screws used to adjust the travel of the door. If you don't have the manual for the opener, you may be able to download one to assist in locating the correct screws if the opener has this adjustment. As far as by-passing the safety beams, just place a jumper wire in place of the safety beam receiver.

Please take the time to rate this solution.

Remotes don't work

I recently had Verizon FIOS equipment installed in my garage (for phone, internet and TV), which is plugged into a 110 volt electrical outlet. Thinking this equipment might be causing some RF interference, I unplugged the FIOS equipment, and both garage door openers immediately worked perfectly again!
After reconnecting the FIOS equipment, I then plugged the garage door opener into a different electrical outlet approximately 15 ft. away via an extension cord, and the openers continue to work fine. Fingers crossed, I hope the issue is permanently resolved.
