Squeaky dryer drum...felt thing came off how to replace it?

GE Profile gas dryer. The drum was squeaking and I opened up the top and found this strip of felt that appears to have come off the front of the drum. How do I get to it to replace it? How do I open the front?

Squeaking is cause by the drum bearing worn out and telling the tale. As it get thinner and thinner it begins to rub against the metal outer casing it is embellished in. To inspect it you must rmove tyhe front and get the drum out. Start by opening the the door and removing the screws holding down the top. Then raise the top and get the screws out thathold the front on. Use the rear acces panel(if applicable) to get the idler loose or access that idler from the front.squeaky dryer drum...felt thing came off how to re - e24a4b7.jpg

Good typing waddn't it? LOL If your model is a little newer it may have a different bearing but the object causing the squeak is the same. The rear drum bearing. That is the squeal and the scrub sound is the front drum glides.

My ge dryer is hanging clothes around the drum and leaving them black. mostly wash cloths at a corner. it has a squeak like a cricket.

Hello darrellandru, the problem is most likely going to be the drum slides. On the top drum bering, there are four plastic strips, the drum sits on these strips and those strips are what the drum rides on. You may also have problems with the drum gasgket (the felt that is on the bottom plastic drum bering).

GE washer squeaking

Make sure the felt on the rim of the drum is secure and the plastic glides that the drum sits on are not worn down.

Squeaks alot when it is drying clothes, my husband replaced the belt, and front felt. what could it be?

Replace the tensioner roller assembly that tensions the belt. also, check the rear drum rollers that the drum rests on for free spinning but no wobble or noises, If loose or wobbly, replace them too.

Squeaky drum I have replaced felt that the drum rides on still squeaks think it is in the back model #DVL223GA G.E.

You will have to open the top once again. Remove the front panel and the belt and then un screw the three screws inside the middle of the drum and remove it. Go to this it will show you the part you need to grease with high temp grease. www.repairclinic.com/SSPartdetail.aspx?s=t-DVL223GA-%3d%3di771336&PartID=771336

NVLR333ETOWB HOTPOINT DRYER EATING CLOTHES

I have the same dryer doing the same thing. Open the door and take the two screws out and lift the top. Remove the two screws that hold the front on. Remove the front. On mine both the plastic parts that stay on the front when it is removed are cracked and needing replaced. I found over 20 buttons that the dryer had pulled off clothes stuck in the front door. I'm sure if it will be cost effective to buy both these parts or not.
