SOURCE: would like to hook up two recievers to push all my

I think you mean Pioneer VSX-D409.

Since the two receivers are similar and capable of driving everything else in the room, I guess you want to treat one receiver like a basic amp, like for a passive subwoofer, right?

However, still guessing your intent...

The VSX is a basic 5-channel amp (5 x 100w) but only has digital multichannel inputs. It has optical and coaxial digital inputs and an optical digital output.

The Sherwood has coaxial and optical digital inputs and no digital output, but it has analog inputs, so it would be easier to selectively use any or all of its amplifiers, which are about the same as the Pioneer's (gotta read the fine print - Sherwood uses a 6-ohm load instead of 8-ohm to get the numbers).

Choose the one you like to use for the control (master). Run its Sub Out to the other receiver's AUX input using an RCA splitter to feed both input channels. Attach the sub to one set of front speaker terminals. Configure theat receiver for NO SUB so it won't steal LFE from theis channel. Designate the FRONT speakers as Large.

Setup would be tricky because you have to choose a volume setting on the slave amp and stick with it. It might get changed after you set the levels and negate the setup efforts. OTOH, you would have the flexibility to change it independently if desired.

My $.02... If subwoofer power is all you need, why not just get a nice Carver 2-channel amp on eBay (2x100w would suffice), bridge it to 200 watts and blow the house up, figuratively? Then you could redeploy or sell the unused receiver.

I have an advent DV1418A and my built in dvd player wont work when i put a CLEAN WORKING disc in it says loading then it says "no disc" please help!

The READ head is dirty or damaged...very difficult to get to the back of TV to disassemble DVD player.. clean read (light diode) head with light cleaning fulid or don't take apart & use official cleaning DVD disc. Look on web site for CD\dvd cleaning disc.It looks like a CD but has 'fuzz' or a very thin " rug" on 'read' side of disc.

There are facilities to CHOOSE the digital assignment. I've seen where extended power loss will randomly lose custom settings. Open the manual.

It would seem the TV/SAT source is where the problem lies. No picture with CD? Really?

How about bypassing the receiver to prove what is failing?

Sounds very much like two possibles a short in the fuse box to the non working parts or your battery went dead and was recharged and you did not reset these items. As what U mention all sound like the equipment that needs to be reset when you change a battery or it goes dead.

Phono plays lower in volume than cd and tuner. Sounds ok i guess but is about a quarter to one third lower in volume. Is this normal ? Can I plug phono into cd jacks to check if any better ?

Hello. As per the post before me, if you have a receiver with a Phono input(many receivers don't have one anymore) the output of a phono cartridge is around 30 millivolts, vs 300 millivolts for a CD(10 times the amount) or any other line level device. A Phono preamp, also has RIAA(recording engineering standards)Equalization that provides the proper equalization for a Phono cartridge. As per the other post, yes, it will sound very low, and unnatural sounding. If the input you are plugging the turntable input into, doesn't say Phono, you can purchase an inexpensive Phono preamp made just for this very issue. You can try Radio Shack, or find something of better quality on the Internet.

Regards,

Dave

No TV sound, only DVD and CD players

Check your tv settings may need to change from speaker out to line out.

Check the tv input on the receiver, put the cd or dvd cables into the tv input. If you get audio the receiver is fine. No audio check the receiver settings.
