Question about Dell Inspiron 8600 Notebook

1 Answer

Inspriton 8600, XP SP1a not recognizing Integrated Net Controller

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with XP SP3 and had a blue screen of death and was only working safe mode. I had a dark screen issue before and the motherboard has been replaced by a 3rd party company and reloaded the operating system by them and everything was working fine. I do not know what motherboard type but was a compatible one for 8600.

As I didn’t have much data on the hard drive I had wiped out everything and re-installed XP SP1a but now my laptop is not recognizing “Integrated Network Controller”, Ethernet port, Intel Pro wireless etc. I have tried installing drivers from the disk I had from Dell but they were not working with these. Also I’m getting blue screen of death whenever I’m trying to install Intel Pro Wireless driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi ac dr,

Thanks but I did that and also tried using system rstore and nothing worked so I have decided to wipe off the HD and re-installed XP with SP1a.

Let me know if there is a way to install a different driver to recognize my ethernet port so that I can get connected to internet and then get all the devices on the motherboard scanned and get appropriate drivers.
