SOURCE: No spark at plug

Hi, I can see you posted this in April, so you may have sorted it by now!..? Is your problem that it will not start? If so and you have checked that the air filture and spark plug are OK, then you should make sure that all four lights are on, on the dash. Also you need to make sue that the black flap at the back directly behind the seat is pressed down properly. If it is up slightly it will stop it from starting as it is a safety feature. It has some sort of trip swith on it. I hope this has been helpful.

SOURCE: I have 12hp briggs and stratton engine in a Dynamark rider

A bowl kit can be purchased at a ACE or here we have a place that sells direct B&S parts. the bowl kit is about $5, it comes with the float needle seat and bowl, new bolt. Is the carb stripped where the bolt goes or you think it could be. Alot of the time the bowls leak because of a bad gasket. Try a small strip of Teflon for the bolt to see if it will stop the leak.

Older 12hp briggs and stratton engine with missing wires

should only need three... one for the kill wire ( most likely goes to the plate that the throttle cable hooks to) ... one for the charging system ( 3 amp dc charge ) or two from the charging system ( 1- 3 amp dc charge and 1- ac charge wire... and depending on how old you might or might not have a wire that goes to the bottom of the carb ( i would guess not in this case but always check )
only other wire would be for the starter if equipped...

I have a 24 hp briggs, model 445777, type

I believe this does have comression release. Make sure you're rotating the motor in the correct direction, as I think the compression release only works in one direction. Adjust the valve to .004 with the piston at TDC make sure it's on the power stroke. Turn the motor till intake opens, then when you continue to rotate crank, unitl valve closes and piston gets back to TDC. Adjust both valves to .004. Then do the other cylinder the same way.

Craftsman Tractor (B&S 20 HP Intek) starter motor spins, but the gear does not move up and engage the fly wheel. How is it supposed to work? Can I fix it?

All it should need is a kit that gives you the top half of the starter. I just did one on my 12hp craftsman. The kit was $23.00 and even came with the directions. very easy. Hope this helps

What size battery is required for a 16hp vtwin? I used to have a 12hp in my mower so I was wondering if the same battery would work.

any 12 volt battery will work. rule of thumb is to get the one with the highest cold cranking amps "CCA" that will fit.

After cleaning and lubing a Briggs and Stratton started, it turns in the reverse direction. What is the problem?

I am guessing but I take it that you have ran it before and you didn't have this problem?
I ask because some Briggs -n-Stratton engine are made to run backwards.
Although I am unsure why these motor were designed with this intend.
If this is a new problem the only logical explanation is the timing is off. Off meaning around 180 degrees. This can happen if the flywheel shears the woodruff key. However since a backward running motor is not logical I suppose we can through that out the window.
Please respond with the model Briggs-n-Stratton motor and I will try and come up with some illogical solutions to the problem.
Hope to hear back.

It might help to remember that given the possibility that there is an infinite number of universes, there is at least one that your motor would be running in the correct direction. It's just not this one.
