Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators

Whirlpool ice maker won't work after cleaning

My brother-in-law cleaned the ice tray in Whirlpool side by side and it will not work since then. Tried raising and lowering the bar that tells the maker the tray is full, but still no ice. Is there some simple thing that must be done when tray is slid back into place?

Have replaced everything and ice maker still doesnt work model ed5shaxmb10

An ice maker has 3 basic tasks:
1. Call for water.
2. Freeze.
3. Harvest.
Then the cycle repeats. There will always be some sensors that determine timing of those tasks. Home units usually have a bin level sensor (often an arm that's lifted as the bin fills) that can be locked in the up position to disable the ice maker.

If it's calling for water but not freezing, make sure the condenser is clean. (Sometimes they look clean but are plugged in the middle.) It has to get down to nearly 0 degrees to efficiently make ice, if it's not getting cold enough you may need a tech to figure out why.

If there's ice in the tray but it's not harvesting, clean the tray, hard water deposits can make the cubes stick in the tray.

Ice maker won't make ice

This problem is very common. The ice maker water passing line gets clogged or blocked by ice cube or gets frosted by ice or the water valve, which lets water to ice maker, tray, that valve gets faulty.

The ice maker not working.-------------

Its the problem of water inlet valve. It's a dual valve. This valve has two tubes in it. One for water dispenser and one for ice maker chamber. The one side of valve is working, but other side of the valve is not working. The valve is got stuck in one position

The ice maker in my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator has stopped making ice. There is ice in the tray, but it won't empty itself.

If the " tray " you are refering to , is the ice maker mold , then clean the coils in the front , under the refrig ( condensor coils ) . Also check the fan behind the refrig , to make sure it is working . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees to cycle . Bothe the coils and the fan , have to be checked to be sure the freezer is at the correct temp for the ice maker to opperate properly . If both are ok , then replace the ice maker .

Whirlpool side by side Ice maker has quite making ice

Open the freezer door and on the right side , make dure the slide is in the on position . If the red light flashes twice , then pauses , flashes twice , pauses , consistently , then close the flap door on the left side of the freezer . The light should go off . If these tests work , then the cut-off optics are good , and the icemaker needs replaced , due to the cubes not dumping . Also check the coils under the front of the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc.

I have model 3XART720F02 ART706 TYPE 2055A The water ice distribution area needs cleaning. Can this area be dismanteled

Prepare the Ice Maker For Cleaning

Step1Lift the power located above the ice maker storage tray.
Step2Unplug the refrigerator.
Step3Allow the refrigerator and to defrost. This will melt any large blocks of ice that have accumulated in the ice maker
.
Clean the Ice Machine

Step1Remove the ice machine storage tray.
Step2Dump any water in the ice machine storage tray.
Step3Wash the ice machine storage tray using warm, soapy water. Rinse and allow to dry completely.
Step4Sanitize the lines of the ice maker. Consult your manufacturer's
directions for steps to do this, because it's not available on all models.

Reassemble the Ice Maker

Step1Replace the ice machine storage tray.
Step2Plug the refrigerator into the outlet to restore power.
Step3Lower the internal power bar located just above the ice machine storage tray. This allows the ice machine to make new ice.

Ice maker stopped dropping ice or even making ice.

Try using a hair dryer to thaw out the rubber tubing leading to the ice tray. On mine, I opened up the front door to the icemaker and found the rubber tubing leading in. I squeazed it, it felt frozen, so I applied heat. Water began dripping out, the area thawed, and I had ice again within a short period of time.

The ice coating usually means that your door was left slightly open. Did the ice maker work after you cleaned up the ice?
