Battery not holding a charge.do you leave phone on while charging

I just received my phone and charged it before using. I put the phone on the charger and turned the phone off. The battery did not charge. Are you suppose keep the phone on during the charging process or turn if off?

Also, my phone did not come with an operations manual. Did anyone receive one?

Firstly the battery from new will need charging for about 8 hours to boost it after that it should reach full charge in about 1 hour it will charge if it is on or off and when off should show a charging bar how ever there is no way it will recognise when fully charged so dont leave over night otherwise it will reduce battery life greatly

My phone is not holding a charge. I charge it overnight and this morning it was only at 32% charged. The day before the charge ran out very fast. How can I fix this problem?

It sounds like you need to replace the battery in your phone. NiCad batteries will build a memory, so you should not use the phone for, say 3 hours and place it back on the charger. You should use the phone and let it run down until you get a warning on the phone of low battery. That is when you should put the phone on the charger. It is okay to leave the phone on the charger for extended hours and it will not do anything to the battery, but in your case it looks like you have a bad battery.

Tip

Why your phone won't charge

Hello,

there are three or more reason why your your phone won't charge;

1. The charger might be defective.
2. The charging port of the phone might be defective.
3. The battery cell might be very weak or the battery might be defective.

Charger

A defective charge can cause a phone not to charge. To actually find out if your charger is defective or not, borrow a charger from a family or friend that has the type of your phone, use the borrowed charger to on your phone. If the the phone charges, then obviously, your charger is defective and need to be replaced. It is also good to test your charger on another phone to confirm the status of the charger.

Make sure you run the above test, before buying another charger so that you don't waste your money. Sometimes, charger might be working and phone won't charge due to some other reasons that would be discussed below. So confirm first before buying another charge. Don't buy another charged based on assumptions........

Battery

A battery that is very flat, I mean a battery that its cell is very weak, won't charge with a phone charger. You might have to leave the battery in the phone with the charge plugged in for some minutes or hours before the battery will begin to charge and other times, it might not charge at all.

What make batteries to be in this kind of condition is;

1. If you use you phone to the point when it says "low battery" and you still don't charge the battery and the phone turns off by itself. This can run down a battery cell.
2. If you leave a battery in the phone idle for a days or months, the battery cell will become weak. Or if you leave a battery used for days or months.
3. If you don't use the correct/right charger for your phone, this can drain the battery instead of charging it.

Batteries in such condition will have to be fast charged with a desktop charger. The desktop charger will be connected directly to the battery and the battery will definitely pick up within 1 hour. Thereafter, you can continue charging it with your phone charger and it will charge immediately.

But if the battery is defective, it won't charge at all. Even if you use a desktop charger. Such batteries needs to be replaced. Also, it is good to test the phone with another battery, and charge it to confirm before buying another battery.

Below is a picture of what a desktop charger looks like;

Charging port

If non of the above seems to be the reason why your phone won't charger, then it means the charging port is defective.

Most times defective charging port confuses people. They think the charger is the reason why their phone won't charge and after using another charger on their phone they still find out that the does still does not charge.

Once your phone doesn't charge, the first this you test is the charger and second, the battery. But if the battery and charger seems not to be the cause of the problem, then it is the charging port that is cause the problem.

Your charging port might not be defective, maybe it loosed contact with the phone phone or it shifted from it's position. Sometimes, the way we forcefully insert our charger into the phone can make the charging port loose contact.

At this point, you will have to disassemble your phone. But if you feel it is a task you cannot perform yourself, then take the phone to a repairman to help you out. But if you feel you can do it yourself (DIY), read further.

Turn off the phone. Remove the battery. After that, get a phone screw driver, unscrew all the phone screws, remove the phone cover in order to gain access to the phone panel and get to the charging port.

Check if the charging port actually loosed contact. If it didn't loose contact, then you will have to replace the charging port.

Note that some charging port are soldered to the phone board and some are not. So if yours is not soldered, simply remove the charging port and make a replacement. But if is soldered, you will be needing a rework station. Rework station is what you will use to remove the charging port.

Below is a picture of what the rework station looks like;

I hope the above makes sense to you.......

Good luck.

When charging, the message "check battery" appears

There is nothing wrong if you get this message While You Are Talking, Texting or Surfing the Web. If that is when we receive this message means is that you are using more power from the battery than the charger is supplying at that moment. SO the power/battery monitor in the phone thinks that the battery is bad because the battery is not receiving any of the power that is coming in from the charger BECAUSE you are using the phone while you are charging. So you really don't need to worry about it. If you care about the life of your battery; some experts suggest that the best way it charge is with the phone completely turned off. I know many people believe they can't ever possibly survive life with the phone off. Having said that the next best way to charge is with the phone on but not in use. When you use the phone while you are charging you are putting extra strain on the battery and it's charge control/monitor circuits. Hope this solution is helpful for someone.

My nokia 5610 have no power at all but when i start to charge it has the indication of charging

This is because the only power the phone is receiving is from the power cord from the wall. When this problem occurs, it is because the battery in your phone is completely dead and not capable of receiving a charge (in other words the battery is fried). the solution would be a new battery. A tip on avoiding this problem in the future would be to only charge the phone to a "full charge" and then remove the charger. Avoid leaving it on charge all night while you sleep as this is the main cause of battery death. Also car chargers are another culprit, which is an un-known fact. a car charger uses a different kind of electricity which is stronger. If you have ever noticed that if it takes an hour to fully charge your phone when it is plugged into the wall, it may only take approximately 20 minutes to fully charge the phone in your car. So you if you must charge your phone in your car, charge it for no longer that 10 to 15 minutes at any one-time. good luck

The battery died and now is not charging and cant be turned on

Probably the battery went dead and you need to boost it up a little before a normal charger can charge it up. Plug the phone to the charger and leave it for a while, that way it will begin to hold charge gradually.
You can also try to use a universal charger to charge the battery so it will hold a charge to be able to power on the phone.
Hope this information helped you

Phone not holding charge with new battery

Hello,

Have you try to use another charger to charge and it doesn't hold charge? if yes., no problem because it be that your charger is bad. But since it does not charge with another charger, it means the charging port is bad.

The problem with the phone is the charging port, the charging port of your phone is not charging the phone that is why it doesn't hold any charge,

All you need to do is to change the charging port of your phone and you will see that your phone will hold charge.

Take care.

My sanyo pm 8200 wont hold charge!

Hello,

Since the battery and charger are new and yet it does not still hold charge.

Have put the battery in another similar phone and try to charge with your charger to see if it will hold charge? if you have.

It means the charging port of your phone is bad and you will need to replace it.

The charger is not charging the battery in anyway because the charging port is bad, so just change your charging port, your phone will now hold charge.

Take care.

It looks like battery is damaged... When plugged in to charger phone shouldn't power on. Try put it on charger when on and see if charging icon appear. (top right corner-battery status icon should change -insted of battery to charging.) Battery is fully charged after cca 4 hours, 80% after 2 hours.

Newer phones don't have the battery problems of old. Just to be safe I would leave the phone off the charger after the first call. Put it on the charger when you go to bed.

Battery

the batteries often go bad especially if you leave it on the charger all the time. i was told to leave it off charge all day and put it on at night and they would last longer. any ways take one of the batteries out of one of the other phones if they are the same and put in the one that will not hold a charge if it works fine go and buy a new battery. you can usually get them a wal mart very reasonable.
