Football manager 2009 xml parsing error

When i load football manager 2009 it comes up with an xml parsing error and it used to do this when loading a match and i don't know how to fix it. I've tried uninstalling the game and restarting the computer and reinstalling and trying different installation methods and nothing changes other people i have spoken to have the same problem

Any thoughts???

If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following:

  • Right-click on the FM shortcut.
  • Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
  • In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences
  • Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

You'll want to remove the command after you run the game, as otherwise it will continue to reset your preferences every time you launch.

If you don't have a shortcut you can make one and then perform the instructions on the shortcut you've made.

Xml parsing error

I would recommend to try the following procedure:

C: -> Users -> -> AppData -> Roaming -> Sports Interactive -> Football Manager 2011 -> Settings (Windows 7 / Vista) or C: -> Documents and Settings -> -> Application Data -> Sports Interactive -> Football Manager 2011 -> Settings (XP)

You should locate the "Settings" folder - delete it. However make a copy of it, because I must warn you, that you could potentialy lose all your saved games. However, it should get rid of the XML parsing error.

Hi! If this error comes up on the game, try reinstalling it by going to Add or Remove Programs. Then click on Add Programs. Then click on the first tab in there. If this still comes up, then i'm out of solutions.

Try to load th game and not well formatted (invalid token)on last saved game parsing error then i click ok and fm 2009 dissapears

Okay, please repeat the problem and symptoms, that was a bit out of sorts.
This is what I got:
You were trying to play Football Manager 2009, but when you loaded up the game, you got error code "invalid token."
if so;
You need to clear your cache files. Do this without the game running.

How to delete your Cache files

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders. Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Windows XP:
1. Open “My Computer”
2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\
3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.
4. Go into the “Football Manager 09” Folder.
5. Delete the folder called "Cache"

Wndows Vista:
1. Click “Start”
2. Click your username on the start Menu
3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”
4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder
4. Go into the “Football Manager 09” Folder.
5. Delete the folder called "Cache"

Mac OSX
1. Open Finder.
2. Select <User>
3. Navigate to Library\Caches\Sports Interactive
4. Go into the “Football Manager 09” Folder.
5. Delete the "Cache" Folder.
5. In the 'Library' Folder look for the 'preferences' folder.
6. Go into the “Football Manager 09” Folder.
7. Delete the "Cache" Folder

Do NOT Delete the folder marked "Football Manager 2009 Certificate".
