Blu ray player stops in middle of movie

My blu ray player stops playing the movies 1 hour and 41 minutes into the movie. It just freezes up and we've tried it on several blu ray movies and they all stop at this point. We just bought all movies on black Friday so the movies are new. We also downloaded the current update from Samsung but it didn't make a difference and Samsung couldn't help either. Any help is greatly appreciate.

SOURCE: why won't the samsung blu ray players play all blu

Software on blu-ray players need to be updated occasionally. You may need to visit Samsung's website for instructions on updating the software on your player. This may be as simple as downloading a file or requesting an update disc.

SOURCE: Black Bars on all blu ray movies

Hi icmjrtdr,

Having black bars displayed when watching a Blu-Ray disc is a common occurrence, even with a widescreen television.

You may have heard or seen aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9. 4:3 is the ratio of a traditional television that is nearly square. 16:9 is the ratio of most widescreen televisions currently marketed. The reason that even with a 16:9 television Blu-Ray discs are displaying black bars is that many of these discs contain footage that has not been reformatted for television. The screen in a movie theater is even wider than 16:9, and rather than trim the ends, most Blu-Ray discs maintain the entire picture.

Depending on the options available in your particular television, you may be able to find a zoom setting that trims the ends and removes the black bars. It is up to you if you would rather see black bars with the entire picture or lose a small amount of the picture on each side for a full-screen experience.

Hope this helps,
Jason,

Are blu ray stops payling in the middle of movies for no apparent reason

One of the possible reasons is that your Blu-ray player is unable to read the disc. Check to make sure the inserted disc is clean and not scratched on the playing side. If so clean the surface of the disc or use an alternative Blu-ray disc to verify. ... Only Region B Blu-ray discs and Region 4 DVDs are compatible.11 Oct 2017

Our Blu-Ray player has a lot of problems playing Blu-Ray disks. Sometimes it doesn't load at all and sometimes it stops in the middle of the movie and we can't get it to reload the same disc. Lately we've...

Yes I would replace it, the laser pickup assembly is showing early signs of failure, it will often play the regular dvd movies because there is less demand on the laser tracking system. The cost to replace is cheaper than repairing the unit.

Finalize a Disc on Mangavox MWR10D6

No. Generally finalising just writes the unused spaces as unused so the player knows and adds a stop code. The shorter the DVD the longer the finalise. An hour and a half on two hours is plenty of space.

Samsung bd-p1400 will not play certain disks

My dark Knight DVD was only playing the first 4 screens and I burned the firmware upgrade to a CD. It took about 20 minutes from the time I inserted it for it to be complete, then it stopped at 4 again but took about 30 seconds and it began to play perfect.

Player suddenly freezes

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:
