Question about Dell OPTIPLEX 745 PC Desktop

Network card is not responding

Try to establish a connection and it will not.... Go to trouble shoot and its says there is no network card in the computer but it is integrated with the motherboard... I try to do com1 query and query is greyed out and not able to be clicked

What about Device Manager, are there any warnings concerning Network adapters? Exclamations indicate you need drivers.

Click on device manager under control panel and click on your network card ..see if its disabled and it will also tell you if it is working or not

make sure ethernet card is in slot tight screw down go to computer ,system propertys, go to device manager, trouble shoot it.

I have an Acer Aspire1 Netbook and below is the problem. Went to BIOS set defaults but still get the same thing: For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller... check cable connection PXE-MOF:exiting intel PXE...


A computer tries to "boot" from many devices:

* 3.5-inch floppy-disk (if available)
* USB memory-stick (if connected)
* internal CD/DVD device
* external CD/DVD device
* internal disk-drive
* over your network-cable, by talking to a "network boot server".

When it tries to boot over the network-cable, and *NO* "boot-server" responds,
you get the "check cable connection" and "exiting from P(re)(e)X(ecution)E(nvironment)" mode.

If it cannot boot from your 'C:' drive, and cannot boot from the network boot-server,
your computer responds "no bootable device" and "insert boot disk" (into CD or floppy-disk),
and "press any key" (to try again to boot).

What this USUALLY means is that your 'C:' disk-drive has stopped working,
meaning that Windows cannot be "booted" from it.

Seek help from a qualified technician to trouble-shoot your disk-drive, and/or to replace it, and/or to reinstall Windows, and/or to "repair" your existing Windows installation.

Motorola modem light wont go past send


The light pattern you have described indicates that the modem can not establish a connection to your internet service provider (ISP). This is typically do to a signal related issue. To trouble shoot the problem you will need to connect the modem directly to the main cable line where it first enters into the home. You will know when the modem establishes a connection by the top 4 lights becoming green. If at any point all 4 top green lights start to blink in sequence than you will need to contact your internet service provider to "unwall the modem". Remember most internet service providers require you to register your modem on there network. So if you have not all ready completed that process you will most likely not have access.

well!! I have an answer for you.your comp is loosing the IP address. goto start - programmes - accessories - dos prompt. type ipconfig.you`ll get ip address,subnet mask,default gateway.copy it. goto network and sharing center in vista and network connection under control panel in XP,IN Vista,click on view status,goto properties and double click on internet protocol(tcp/ip) or IPv4In XP,right click wireless network connection and goto properties and double click on internet protocol(tcp/ip).type in the IP address,subnet mask,default gateway.in DNS server address type the default gateway in primary DNS and in secondary 4.2.2.2. your connection won`t drop after this.

Ethernet cable connected not detecting


make sure you donot have any static ip address in your network, or make sure you didnot disabled your network card, try to look in laptop network card if there is a linking light when you connect the cable? if not either cable or network card has problem.
try this and let me know what happen?

you instaled both in one partition or separate if separate you need to check the proper driver of onboard network card and try again to connect

Try resetting the modem. It may be the Modem has to re-assign an appropriate ip address to your desktop.
