Question about Denon AVR-2312CI

Open Question

I tried to update firmware on Denon 2312. The result was a system crash and I cannot get the anything to work. Did a reset, and cannot get back to setup wizard or anything actually.

After following the system reset instructions on page 114, I still get just the receiver selections, no Setup Wizard, no speakers, no video ...

    Follow up ... after the firmware failed, I did a system reset as noted in the manual. My receiver is now reset to where nothing is configured. To configure the unit requires the Setup Wizard, which is access via the remote using the amp functions. While the remote appears to be functional on controls such as volume, mute, unit preselects, it will not activate the Amp functions when pressed, I reset the remote, as was suggested below, but that does not fix the problem. Could it be that I need firmware, not just an update but the basics to get there (i.e. download via computer to thumb drive)? If so, how would I do this? Is there a way to access the Amp controls, in particular Setup Wizard without a remote? Thanks!

    When I say nothing is configured, that means all inputted components and the monitor out to the TV. Prior to the firmware attempt and the reset, all of this works, so it is not a component issue. Thanks!

    This is my problem ... when following these instructions, I still do not get the Amp menu. All other functions seem to work. Being that the '12 models don't include a "Menu" button on the front panel of the receiver, you must access the OSD or GUI via the receiver's remote control by selecting "AMP" and then "MENU." This pertains to models: AVR-1312, AVR-1612, AVR-1712, AVR-1912, AVR-2112CI, AVR-2312CI, and AVR-3312CI.

    Could this be a sign that, when the firmware update crashed, it corrupted the Menu controls and Setup?

    Hey Tony, I ended up shipping it off to be repaired (still under warrantee). They replaced the board in it and updated it all. Works fine now. Not sure if they were able to determine the exact cause. These days the solution is usually board swaping to see if that fixes the problem.

SOURCE: Unable to view setup menu on TV screen

I had this same experience and after hours of attepts to fix it (including the suggestions on this site) I found that the company that installed and set up my system literally disabled the "set up" on the remote so that it could not be changed. To fix this (and/or confirm that this may be your problem) reference page 39, "all reset functions" to reset your remote back to factory settings. As soon as I did this and hit "set-up" -- the set up menu popped up and worked appropriately. Hope this works for you!

Are you connected with video cables to a tv or "monitor" this is more than likely were the setup is visible for speaker configuration, input assignment etc, most denon receivers work this way so I would suspect you need to re-check the video connection until a set-up picture appears.

check the setting for the HDMI connection at the Denon you may have to assign the HDMI audio setting also on the front of the Denon while in the DVR mode press the input mode button on the front of the Denon to select auto and if that doesn;t give you sound you will have to connect a cable from the DVR optical.coaxial or analog audio output to the Denon and setup for that type of audio connection

Hello,

Unfortunately a failed firmware update will result in an inoperative unit. The solution is to update the firmware directly to the chip. Not a DIY solution. A local Denon repair center will be equipped to do that for a nominal fee. Your unit is a bit older to get much help from the main company.
If you are handy you need a chip burner and the proper setup and then force the firmware onto the chip. Lot of computer guys may have that around to help.

How do I remove "panel lock on" function ?


There is a firmware update that is supposed to help with this problem, but it's not something that the consumer can do. You would have to take it in to a shop for this to be done. You might want to try and contact Denon customer service and see if they will do anything for you.

Denon AVR-1912 firmware upgrade failed


I'm having the same problem, Denon has taken down the firmware upgrade for yours ( and mine) AVR-1912. My receiver is also stuck in the update fail loop. Supposedly they will have it back up, but I don't know the timeframe.

Lots of others are having the problem with the firmware upgrade. Go to

and that should help you out, though I can't say how much. I've gone as far as resetting the microprocessor, but it keeps trying to update, and then fails...

My blackberry curve is frozen, when this happens, i cannot get past the home screen. i have removed the battery 5 times, but it is still frozen.


Did you recently update your firmware version? If yes, then you have to exercise some level of patience when starting up the phone. Depending on certain conditions, it might take up to 10-15minutes to start up fully for the first time after a firmware update.
If this doesn't work for you(that is after waiting for about 15minutes) you can try the hard reset by pressing down the "alt", "shift" and "enter" keys simultaneously while the device is coming on. This could have happened as a result of a crashed firmware.
Lastly, pull out the battery for 10 minutes and put it back in. This should solve the issue.
Note that: the hard reset combination must be held down until the phone goes off and comes back on by itself.

It is a firmware glitch, you need to check if your handset can be updated to new andriod update . If it can then you need to rung Samsung pc studio or KIES and connect your phone to download the latest firmware on your handset

Ps3 freezes up 10-15 min play time


First try resetting your PS3 by disconnecting all of the cords and holding the power button in until it squawks at you. Hook it back up and install the latest update to the firmware. Also make sure you have everything well ventilated. (Any electronic device that overheats will crash out and high-powered game systems like the PS3 and XBOX 360 are especially prone to overheating.) Fire up a game and see if you get the same result.

If it still won't work for you, go ahead and give Sony's tech support a call. If you're still in warranty, odds are, they'll service or replace your unit.

Update all the drivers on your computer. Every device should be completely up to date. After this, look for updates to your BIOS.
Note: This is very dangerous. Updating your BIOS may result in damage to your computer. A BIOS is a code the motherboard uses to boot up and run the system by, and by changing this the motherboard may be confused and not work properly. Please use caution when attempting to update your BIOS, and don't hold me or the site responsable if your computer breaks.
So updating your BIOS could fix the problem, as that's the base of the firmware. I can't think of anything else that's productive

Crashin, freezing, and a random system clock


Try to update your bios with the newest version from Accer I have had a couple like this in the past. It seens that the firmware running the realtime clock sometimes causes all kinds of problems if it is currupt software and hardware
