Hello- Assuming you are using WinXP or Higher, you need to go to "Start" then 'Run'. A window will appear where you will type in 'msconfig'. The 'System Configuration' window will open. Click on the 'startup' tab. Deselect the items in your system tray that you DO NOT want to start up only. Click 'apply'. You will be prompted to 'restart'. Click 'yes' to restart. Once the computer is rebooted, you will get a message stating that you've made changes. Check the box so that you wont see the message again.

What Tray App? Malware? Virus? What program did you try to remove it with? If it's a startup program, not a Virus or Malware, what is the issue? You can disable any startup program using CCLEANER freeware found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
. This freeware program cleans the junk from your machine and in the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, Disable ALL unnessary startup programs. This will improve startup speed and running speed.

Increase the speed of computer

The speed of computers depend on several things.
In your case >>>>
1. Check the hard disk ... Go to My Computer >>> Right click on C: >>> Properties >>> Disk Cleanup (to remove useless files) ... Again from Properties >>> Tools >>> Check Now >>> Tick on ( Automatically fix file system errors & Scan for attempt recovery of bad sectors) >>> Start >>> The computer will schedule the scan to the next start up, so restart the computer ;) ..... After finishing the scan go again to C: >>> Properties >>> Tools >>> Defragment Now >>> a new window will appear , click on Defragment button ...
By the way make sure that the hard disk isn't full. If it's , try to move some personal files to another place such as D: or burn them on CDs , try to remove useless programs, Start >>> Control Panel >>> Add or Remove Programs ...
2. 256MB of ram is quiet slow reallly at least 1 GB would help your computer loads. You just need to stop some unnecessary programs working ( Be careful the following steps maybe harmful to your computer ( If try to change the setting ), so don't change the setting of the system)... Start >>> Run >>> Write ( msconfig ) >>> Ok >>> A new window will appear ( be careful here DON'T TRY TO CHANGE OR EDIT ANY SYSTEM OR BOOT FILES OR SETTINGS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO) >>> Click on Startup ( This window shows the programs, which are running in the startup) >>> Remove ticks from the programs, WHICH YOU KNOW THEM, to stop them running in the startup ( this step is really useful to speed the computer up) ... By the way the computer will ask you (after restarting) about that change in the startup, just press ok and tick on (Don't ask me this question again).
3.Increasing the performance of the computer ... Right click on My Computer >>> Properties >>> Advance >>> ( Performance field) Setting >>> Here you can increase the performance by choosing (Adjust for best performance) and you can leave some visual effects if you like ( this step isn't harmful, but don't go to Advanced if you haven't experienced it)...
By the way, sometimes, having two virus protection together makes the computer works like a turtle :)
You should Only have and only need ONE virus protection installed on your PC.
You can click start-----click run-----type msconfig------click startup tabs, then you can uncheck programes that dont need to run at startup. Then click ok to exist..And you also can go visit http://www.make-pc-fast.com to download a speedup software.

Uninstall the hotkey software from Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs in XP, Programs and Features in Vista, 7)

Alternatively install Startup Control Panel and uncheck the program from startup. The program works great in XP, for Vista and 7 there is more playing around:
  • Download the zip file
  • Click Extract All files
  • Right click on the program
  • Choose Run as Administrator
  • Install the program
  • Open Control Panel and choose Classic View
  • Run Startup
  • Uncheck something in HKLM and it will duplicate
  • Close Startup
  • Wait for Windows to pop up a box
  • Click Reinstall using recommended settings
  • Allow the program to run
  • Now you can remove the programs from startup.
  • Restart your computer

My camera is not working.it says in use by another application. I dont know which application is using it actually none of those apps are turned on.How can i fix it?

It is possible your Startup files contains Skype, VID, PhotoBooth, or some other program that hijacks your webcam. Even if you don't have those programs running they may keep you from using a different application. You will have to manually go through any type of program that could use your webcam and turn off the camera, and/or remove those programs from your Startup menu.

How to clean up start up processes

Questions about optimize start up:
How to remove program from start up?
My computer boots very slow? How do I clean up start up processes?
Windows startup very slow, how to fix it?

Why clean up start up processes?
Windows Startup program will load the default programs or processes you add to your computer. The test result shows a new system only boot within 30 seconds. As you install antivirus program or other applications, it becomes very slow. Sometimes, the startup gets bloated not due to your computer behaviors. Malicious software is prone to add useless processes on startup without your known. You are not aware that your computer becomes more and more slow until serious computer problem occurs. Don’t ignore a slow start up, it is the root of Blue Screen and computer freezing.

How to clean up start up processes?
The first thing you should do is to remove spyware or adware from your computer. I prefer to AVG, it is a free anti-virus program. If you want to clean virus completely, you need boot in safe mode and disconnect your Internet.

Hok is a professor with over ten year’s computer experience. He suggest us use ErrorFix. This is a pc optimize tool which can clean up system registry entries, useless program, start up processes and junk files. With this program, your computer will be obviously improved. Just a few clicks, you can remove processes that slow your computer.

What’s more to speed up your computer?
Do not download Peer-to-Peer Download Software! Maybe you are using some software such like YouTube Downloader. These are probably some of the least likely contenders for system-slowdown but they are popular on the internet. Those kinds of program can take up memory space and damage your computer. Also they can automatically add itself as your start up.

My computer takes at least 5 minutes to power up even though i am on cable. how can i stop most programs from loading when i power up. i really only need my email program when i first sign on.

You need to disable some of your startup items. Go to RUN, type in MSCONFIG, go to STARTUP tab, uncheck what you don't want to run on startup.

It takes too long to start up

Try deleting your temp files to clear up space as well as run hard drive defragment and disk clean up. This helps most time. If you find that your systems is still running slow, you may need to add more memory to process the data you have on your hard drive.

Good Luck

Help!!!!

Look like that file is related to MyWebSearch, a common spyware app.  You can remove it from startups by start>msconfig

From there you can click the startup tab.  This will show all programs that load when you turn your computer on.  Find m3plugin and uncheck it.  Feel free to remove any application you know you don't need running right off the bat (if you're not quite sure what it is, google it.  If you're still not sure.... leave it alone).  Click apply and you will be prompted to exit with our without restarting your computer.

First uninstall and program you don't use with Add/Remove Programs.
Look in Start - Programs - StartUp to see some of them. You can delete these safely if you want.

Use AutoRuns to see what other startup programs you have and where they are located.
www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.html

You can also Start - Run - MSCONFIG and use Startup tab to enable or dissble some programs and then reboot to see if it still works OK. If not then you can just run MSCONFIG again and tick the box to put them back in again.

Please rate this answer if it helped.
