Question about Polk Audio POLK PA1200.1 1200 watt monoblock amplifier
Amp is getting power from battery and blue accent lights turn on, but no power to the subs. Tried direct connecting an mp3 player to amp to eliminate RCA cables and still no sound. Amp was wired at 1ohm for 3 months and working ok. Got warm one evening and went into protection mode and hasnt worked since. Amp only got pushed hard for ten to fifteen minutes at a time, but only about once a week for those few months.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the bigger the wire the better the resistance but even a wire wont do much
the only thick i have on my sterio is the battery wire the rest is cut old extension cord wires and mine sound fine never cut out on me and i have 1600 watts going threw amp
more power putting threw the hotter the amp hotter the amp more the cut off amp
quite possible you have too much power going to speakers if your bridged it will blow out amp found that out from bridgeing but thank god i had it fused
turn down your gain and bass boost and work up to good sound say your sterio is 1-60 volume your should hit right around 30 volume by turning gain and boost untill quality sound this is your safe zone gain should be set 1/2 volume of sterio to 3/4 pushing it nothing more or total melt down

Is this NEW? Or did it just fail spontaneously after working for awhile? It describes a way to possibly fix your remote or at least prove it works or doesn't. Find new or replacement remotes: or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.
Is this just a remote control issue or is the sub dead, too?
From the manual...
No sound coming from subwoofer.
If hookup is "SUB OUT" to LFE, check and make sure your receiver is set to Subwoofer=YES. If hookup is via speaker wire, check that the polarity of the wires is correct.
Subwoofer has no power.
Is the AC MAIN switch on? Check outlet; check fuse after unplugging the subwoofer. The fuse is located under the power cord
receptacle. Fuse type and rating is found on the back panel.
Remote control doesn't work.
Remove the plastic tab to activate the remote control's battery or try replacing the battery. Ensure the IR sensor is not blocked.
If it's a new problem with a previously working remote...

SOURCE: 5channel amp 6 speakers how
if it is a 5.1 channel amp wire the center speakers together into the same port. wire the two front speakers in the or der that they would appear on the amp (such as left front speaker to the left front speaker terminal on the amp etc.) and do the same for the rear speakers. and all you should have left is the sub-woofer channel in which you do not have to worry about.

SOURCE: I have a Polk Audio
The protect light appears when one of the outputs on the Polk is shorted - the cause of this can be internal or external.
To find out which just disconnect all the speakers from the Polk and start it - if the warning is gone then it's external, one of the speakers (or its wires) is shorted, connect them one at a time until the warning returns and you will know which one. If the warning is still there then it's internal, one of the amplifiers inside the Polk has failed and it will have to be taken out of the car, dismantled and tested by a pro to find out what happened .
