For example: the washer will stay on the agitating wash cycle. Or stay on the spin cycle. The timer control switch will stick at a cycle and wont move forward sometimes

Hi there Richard. I ordered and installed a new timer control switch and installed it. I can turn my washer on and it will fill with water. as soon as it is done filling with water it does nothing. So I moved the control switch to various locations. What I see its doing is, it will run through every cycle. after it fills with water it will stop and do nothing. but if i move the controll knob to the spin cycle, the pump turns on to drain the water but the spin cycle never occurs. the drum that i put the close in i can turn by hand. so it doesnt feel as though there is anything stopping it from turning. The belt is good and tight from motor pulley to drum pulley. I watched the motor after removing the back panel. It doesnt even appear to be trying to turn. I even turned over the drum by the pulley in back to maybe help the motor along if it was struggling. So to some it up... The drum does not turn to wash the clothes or to spin cycle the water from the clothes. but all functions seem to be working. Email me at tyjoe81@yahoo.com:::Subject "washer" thank yiou so much for your help. I am stumpedddd Ty

SOURCE: GE washer GNSR2140A0WW wont spin/agitate but fills and drains

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wireing to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you relpace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!!

My washer agitates drains but wont spin until i manipulate the switch to wash make it agitate fo a couple of seconds than switch it to spin cycle than it spins

sounds like your timer is bad this is the selector for spin wash ect... This is not a hard repair the back comes off the back top of the washer to exspose the elect controls you will need to unplug it then pull off the knobs and remove the two screws. Make sure to unplug the unit from electricity first. good luck.

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Agitator doesn't spin during wash cycle

If The washer won't agitate
Check to make sure no clothing got wrapped around the agitator. Check the lid switch, timer, and drive belt, other potential causes, such as a bad transmission or bad agitate/spin solenoid, but they are much more involved.
if the washer won't spin, the lid switch, timer, drive belt, transmission, or agitate/spin solenoid could be the cause here as well. Sometimes if the load is unbalanced or too heavy, the washer won't spin. Take some of the clothes out and try the spin cycle again with a lighter load.

Here are the steps to replace the agitator.
1: Take the fabric softener dispenser off and pry off the agitator lid.
2: Use a socket wrench with an extension bar to remove the stud and seal.
3: Remove the agitator top and bottom.
4: Check the agitator clutch assembly (located in the agitator top) for excessive wear.
5: To replace, just reverse the directions.

Stuck in spin

Hi!

If the Washer is stuck in spin then either the timer or a cold-water supply problem is causing this :
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance, then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water

Do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further clarification.

Thanks

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

WASHER WILL NOT SPIN

This is probably a timer problem. In maytag washers the motor turns in one direction to wash, the opposite direction to spin. The timer decides which direction to start the motor.

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.
