Hi There, Alec from VacuumSpot here. If by coupling machine end you mean Kirby Hose End Piece <---- (This is a link so you can see the part), then it is really easy. Basically submerge the end of the hose and the coupling in hot water and once the plastic is warmed up you twist the coupling off the end of the hose. PLEASE NOTE - do not use boiling water you will cause the hose to melt - just hot.

Replace coupling to Kirby G4

Hi There,
I think what you are asking is how to fit a new hose machine end, (hard plastic bit that connects the hose to the kirby body) to the rest of the corrugated hose?.
If this is right it does vary with the really old models but for the G3 and newer which is everything up to about 20 years old it is the same and quite easy.
All you have to do is heat the end of the hose up with hot water - not boiling or you will shrink the hose and kind of twist the new end on. You will need to have removed the old one first which is the same just heat up and twist off.

The vack just stopped working no lights or anything was using it for a couple minuits and it just stopped

Sounds like your machine may have overheated and tripped the motor protect fuse. Does it turn back on after an hour or so?

Check your hose for blockages. Disconnect the hose from the machine and get a small marble and see if it will pass from one end of the hose to the other. If there ism you may need to pass a broom through the straight end to try and dislodge.

Make sure the you don't have a full bag. Also check the motor filter inside the bag cavity to check for blockages.

If there are no blockages and the bag is findm you may need to refer to a Service Center. It's a reasonably new model, so check your warranty papers.

How to attach Kirby Heritage Suds-o-gun?

To use the suds-o-gun you need to convert you Kirby to blower mode. First remove the carpet head.
If you have all of the standard kirby attachments there should be a plastic cover to go over the front of the kirby where the carpet head attaches. Its round with square holes in one end. If you don't have this no biggie. Just leave the carpet head on the machine and rotate the belt to the off position so the brush rool bush on rotate. Remove the bag for the machine attach the hose where the bag was use the same end that attaches to the front on the machine. There are notches on the inside of the hose connector the fit over the tabs on the bag port. Fill the suds gun tank with shampoo and water. Attach the suds gun to the kirby hose. The suds gun nozzle is funnel shaped with wire mesh on the end. This helps to make the suds finer. Also the suds gun should have a knob to set how much suds come out when you pull the trigger. Turn on you kirby and suds away.

I hope this helps.

My kirby g6 shimmy's when pushing it

In the shop I would have a whole bunch of questions, so let me try to run a couple of solutions for you.

The things I initially check for are the roller brush adjustment and how high are you when vacuuming.

On the G6 there are 3 adjustments on the end caps 1,2, and 3. There is also a fourth position but doesn't have a number and don't recommend using this position. If it correctly adjusted these things last forever unless you own a golf course, restaurant, or childs day care. With a G6 if you vacuum every day I would imagine you should be on a 2 if you vacuum a couple of times a week a 1 or 2. The easiest way to tell is to take the floor nozzle off, flip it over and look at the end caps should be different color grays dark and light. You should at this point be able to tell the adjustment by the number facing you. If it is on the number 3 setting and you still have quite a bit of bristle move it to the number 2 setting put it back together and try it out. Roller brush adjustment can also be the culpret for many other things especially if your not adjusting the machine to correct hieght while vacuuming (see below).

If you have a really high pile carpet and your going all the way down this can cause the shimmy especially with a mis adjusted roller brush. When you turn the machine on with the heighth adjuster all the way up. Lower the machine one click at a time, until you here a tone change. It will go from a higher pitcher to a lower pitch as the roller brush begins to sweep the carpet. You can click one click past this but really don't want to go anything further it actually cuts down on the suction, and runs through belts quicker.

If you purchased the machine new at your home from the sales guy and in the pitch he talked about the piggy bank slot in the back if you have kids then perhaps your little one made a deposit into the slot. Either way it could be a coin stuck in the gears. It could also be that the gears themselves are slipping.

It could also be inside the transmission a peblle or large piece of dirt in the gears on the inside.

It could be the bearings in the rear axle assembly. It could be the slide assembly would definitely have to look at it to be for sure.

If your handy I could try to walk you through taking the machine apart and checking the the transmission yourself.

It the roller brush adjustment or vacuuming to at the correct height doesn't solve the problem you should probably have a tech look at it.

Belt change for eureka capture

Lie the vacuum down so it's completely flat, the back of it facing up. On the bottom of it, on the grey plastic, there are instructions. They say, to access the belt, remove the screws numbered 1, 2, 3 & 4. Then look at the four corners of the bottom of the vacuum and you'll see these numbers. You may need a flashlight to actually see the screws because a couple of them are pretty deep inside the plastic. Loosen them with a long shafted, Phillips screwdriver. Stand the vacuum back up and the screws should just fall out. Then you can easily pop off the cover to change the belt.

Miele S758 stops working for no reason

The problem on mine was as described by others. Miele s758 stops for no apparent reason. The first time it happened I had the hose assembly replaced under warranty. Two years later, same problem. I have found that contacts at BOTH ends of the hose were intermittent. I dismantled both ends, extracted both sets of contacts, immersed both sets of slip-rings in methylated spirits and cleaned all the black gunk away. The three PCB mounted contacts were similarly cleaned, retensioned and lubricated with Electrolube. After re-assembly the problem has disappeared. I imagine a repeat procedure will be required in a couple of years.
CAUTION: The procedure is a bit tricky, so unless you know what you are doing, it would be preferable to have it done by someone who does. It is worth fixing as the replacement assembly is $AUD400.
