No you have to remove the media drive cage from the front the panel comes off. then pull on green tab to remove it completely then you'll be able to reach the harddrive

SOURCE: computer doesn't see new secondary hard drive

There is no option in the bios to enable sata. It appears that the sata ports are just for decoration (hence hp using IDE)

How do I add a hard drive?

Shutdown the Pc. open the door that leads to the hard drive.
Assuming there is enough room inside: if you want to add an IDE drive look at the want you already have and find out if the jumper is on "master" or "cable select:. If it is master then you want the new drive to be a slave. If cable select then the new one also on cable select.
If the drive is SATA just find a power cable an a sata cable and just attach the cable. The only go one way look at the connectors. No jumpers.

How do i restore my hp pavilion ze2000 to factory settings without disks?

Hello,
Most HP Pavilions have a recovery partition on there hard drive. You will need to press f11 when you boot to activate the recovery segment of the hard drive.
Now if the recovery partition was distoryed then you will need to call Hp for replacement image disks witch they will charge to ship to you.
I do wish you good luck on this and do hope that you leave positive feedback for your response today.

Sincerely

How do you replace a hard drive in a HP Pavilion -Model 8674D?

The instructions for removing the back cover or front cover might be in the Owner's manual. You need to remove the access panel and once you remove it just uncrew the old hard drive and install the new one and recoonect the wires.

HP Pavilion a6230n won't recognise my dvd drive eversince I downloaded itunes

Hi there. The Class Filter Driver for the dvd drive is either corrupt or missing. Download and install the chipset drivers and update the BIOS for your system. This will generally solve the problem.

You can get the drivers from HP's Support website here:

Hope it works

Cd/dvd rom

It may be really dirty or just to old or has had laser failure.

There cheap these days, and CD drive with DVD Rom reading ability are like $20 to $30 depending on speed and brand.

A DVD/CD RW writer reader are also getting cheaper, around $60 and up usually.

And some advice. Dont by HP Pavilions. I've worked on alot and i find they have outdated parts cuz there remanufactured from older computers and you have a hard time upgrading due to hard to find drivers

try getting into the bios and setting it to boot normally, turn off fast booting if its an option thats on, also, set your CD drive as the first boot devioce, then hard drive. Save and reboot, have CD in drive and just start hitting the F10 key as soon as it starts up, usually you hear a Beep when it detects that you are hitting the key for the boot options. HP pavilions where made to start and skip through the Post Process quickly to limit waitnig time, of course this sux when you want to boot from a cd.

You could try remove ing the BIOS Battery off the board and unplugging the system, wait a minute for it to discharge and put it back in, power it up and see if it lets you boot from CD.

Your bassically resetting the BIOS to factory defaults.

Also, i dont recomend buying HP Pavilions. i wokred on three seperate ones that a customer thought was a New machine ( this was back in 2001 ) but all the parts where 1995 parts, which means wghen they tried to upgrade to windows XP, XP doesnt have any generic drivers for hardware that old so nothing worked and yuo cant find any driver online that are that old.

Good luck anyway.

Connecting Printer

Ideal way to install HP printers is remove USB cable before you start running setup process. when you run setup it will prompt you and ask to plug USB cable then proceed after connecting.
