Camera will not power up. New batteries installed, all doors and ports triple checked for closure.

Camera was left on. Thought battery dead. Charged and retried several times. Bought new rechargeable battery pack, retried but no power. have checked all the doors and reinserted memory card. Even checked the small 3V battery incompartment. Nothing....

SOURCE: "Card Locked"

Hi!
There's a small switch on the memory card reader inside the camera which detects that the card is locked. Most likely this switch is broken. You can try to point it with needle or something but I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair to a local repair shop or Canon service center.

SOURCE: I have a Canon SD1000 battery pack issue.

Hello,
I have a Canondigital ixusi which had the same problem and I purchased three new batteries, but found that all of them showed the "replace battery pack" message when fully charged. I have solved this problem by cleaning all the terminals on the batteries and in the camera very thoroughly with alcohol and Q-tips. Even though the terminals look completely clean, there must be a slight film which is preventing good contact. The contacts in the camera are spring loaded and I suspect they are not making a very good conection to the battery so any contamination is making a high resistance to the flow of electricity. Hope this helps - it worked for me.

SOURCE: CAMERA MESSAGE SD790 IS

Well, I haven't used a Canon PowerShot SD790 IS Digital Camera before, but I want to suggest this: before you start thinking of putting your camera apart, try to clean the battery terminals and the battery contacts of the camera with clean white paper, then reinsert the pack. Please be very careful when doing this so that you do not break or bend the contacts or terminals; they are usually delicate material.

Camera never used and won't turn on, battery fully charged.Ideas? Thanks, Deb

The fe-280 user manual notes hat it is possible to insert the battery "the wrong way round" in either the charger, or camera itself (whereupon its hard to extract).

An extract from the faq about it .....

The camera no longer powers on. What could be wrong?
The battery may be dead or underpowered.
If the battery is completely drained, the camera will not power on when the Power button is pressed. If the battery is nearly drained, the camera may briefly display a Battery Empty error message and then power off, or it may power on and then quickly power off without displaying the error. In either case, charge the battery using the LI-40C battery charger bundled with the camera.
Be sure to properly align the arrow on the bundled battery with the arrow on the bundled battery charger. It is possible to force the battery into the charger so that the arrows are not aligned. This is an improper orientation, and the battery will not be charged. For instructions on how to properly inset the battery into the charger, please see "How do I charge the lithium-ion battery?"

So in a nutshell, the first few steps to check are:
1) Are you sure the battery is charged correctly?
2) Have you inserted it into the camera body correctly?
3) Do you have a spare charged battery to check the camera with? (A photo store will do this for you sometimes, if you ask nicely).

Canon Ixus 75 dropped and won't start

These models are notorious for dying mysteriously. I have 6 of them in such a condition and must assume it is a defective component that only Canon is aware of as no one on the internet has come up with a solution. Two things you can check. There is a switch that is activated by the closure of the battery door and clearly visible. Make sure the plastic piece in the switch has not been broken off or partially split in two which may prevent it from being activated when closing the door. With the battery installed and the door open use a toothpick to press on the left side (towards the centre of the camera) and press the on button to see if you get a power on condition. The solution then is to jam something inside the switch. Number 2 involves opening up the camera and locating the single fuse that I'm aware of. It looks like a surface mount resistor with a "T" marked on it. Go to the top of the mother board. Locate the internal clock battery, to the right is a connector and beside this is the fuse. Check it for continuity with a meter. If it's blown all you can do is solder a shorting wire across the contacts. If you have the skill and tools to do this make sure the battery is out when you do the repair. Good luck.

No lcd display on GE Intellicorder

For a blank LCD screen, the troubleshooting section of the manual says you need 3 new or fully charged alkaline batteries AND you need to firmly connect all cables.

What you have described certainly sounds like a power issue. Any chance the batteries are installed backward? Have you tried 3 brand new alkaline batteries?

This is from the manual page 17 found here:

Fuji F10 No power

You said that you changed the battery, did you put it in the right way around?.

I had exactly the same trouble, changed the battery (got it on ebay for £2.99) charged it and it worked.

Having said that, I closed the lense from external power. If the camera wont operate from external power then the camera is probably dead.
