Did you get any Restore disks with it ?

If it will start up without problems ....hit the start button then go to help and support.....in there you can click on system restore for windows....pick an earlier date to restore to before you got the virus .

Other wise you need to reformat the whole computer ...as the computer is starting up usually a black screen , it will have in one of the corners of screen to press a certain button to start the setup process ...not sure what button for yours....this will only work if the operating system restore from factory is still on a part of the hard drive ...just looked on a site and one guy said press the Ctrl key and the F11 at the same time will work ...

When you get it restored be sure to get an antivirus .....AVG is a free one that works good

Is your Anti Virus Up-To-Date? Will it update? Depending on the Brand of software(you didn't post), Anti Virus, that's installed. The windows Security Center may not recognize it. Open Security Center and change Notification of Anti Virus. First make sure it hasn't been compromised, if you are infected the infected file will shut down your Anti Virus. Use this freeware program to verify a clean system , MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, Run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Depending on the size of your HDD, it may take hours. Post results and your Anti Virus Software Manufacturer.

Dell inspiron 6000 XP has been infected by a virus. How do I erase the virus from my laptop without having to resort to buying the required software from an online software company thats probably cause

Well,if you don't want to buy a software to erase it,then you should have to reinstall your operating system, delete all partition, and INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS
try AVG antivirus,it's FREE and easy to update, don't want to buy something don't you?
P.S it's hard to restore a computer which is already infected without reinstalling the operating system

My Latitude D620 was infected with Privacy Center virus. I installed Malwarebytes software but I'm still having problems intalling new software and pop-ups when I'm on-line. Help!

Try SUPERAntiSpyware - http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
Also fully run you Anti Virus.

If both Fail... you may need to reistall your system. Reinstalling is the safest way to be 100% sure you have the most private system. Reinstall has other benefits: Increased Speed, Stability and Removes Clutter.

I have a dell latitude d350 it is a great computer but somehow it got spyware and tuns of virusus on it

disable system restore and delete the restore points and then update your anti virus and anti spyware defintions and run a virus and spyware scan in safemode.
How to disable system restore points and delete them
How to get into safe mode
Also what anti virus and anti spyware products are you using - if anything symantec then get rid of that and use avg free or avast ( register it for free and then its free for home use )
Also for anti spyware use spybot search and destroy as well as a squared
If you need specific links to those post back. If you need further info / help post back
Also if this resolves your issue please rate it as a fix.

My aspire unti virus database is out of date

hi thanks for using fixya!

What is your anti virus? Try to make a live update for your windows and anti virus. Try to check your window firewall, it must be turned on.

Try to conduct a full scan by using your anti virus.
If still doesn't work, I suggest that you format your laptop, the viruse might infected your system.

Regards!

If you need further assistance, let me know.

Pls rate me positively! thanks!

Don't reformat it just yet. Tell us what OS you are using, and I can try to help.
I will assume you are using WIndows XP or Vista - what you can do, assuming you have kept your PC up-to-date, is try to run the inbuilt Microsoft anti-malware program.
Click Start, Run, type MRT and press Enter or click OK.
You should get the February 2009 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Do a quick scan and see what comes up. If anything is found, reboot and repeat the process doing a full scan (can take several hours).
That should fix and remove the most common virus infections. Let me know how you get on.

If you still need to reformat, you need to use the Dell recovery CDs that came with your laptop. These were a blue recovery/drivers CD and a purple CD for Windows XP sp1 or a green CD for Windows XP sp2. Not sure about other versions of Windows. There is no magic button to reformat with Dell laptops.

My computer wont boot up

If your computer was infected then it is still infected unless you have used an anti virus program to remove the infection. After removing the virus you then can install xp. Hope this helps.

Most like the viruses corrupted the operating system, and you will need to reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. Try this and let me know.
