- Laptop was working fine till yesterday evening. Even now it is working fine till the laptop is connected to AC power supply but the charge sttaus will never go above 30%. Everything is working fine as normal but while booting the laptop I am getting this error as "AC adapter not recognized and system will not perfrom optimally" press F1 to skip the warning or F3 to reboot it.

Jan 12, 2009

- I have checked through the google and loks like many people are facing this problem and there is no issue with the Adapter.

Jan 12, 2009

- Yeah people tried with new battery but the problem seems to be the same.

Jan 12, 2009

- As I have gone through the various tech forums many people gave variuos options which worked in some conditions and dint work in some.

What i understood that its a very common problem with Dell latops.I was looking for a way to figure out where exactly is the problem. If at all i need to but a new AC adapter or replalce my motherboaqrd I can certainly do that, But it should guarantee me that isue has been resolved.

Anyways thanks for your help.

Regards

This may sound stupid but these mistakes are made.
Is the a.c. adaptor plugged in? Is it the right adaptor? Do the wires look damaged? Does the adaptor charge your battery at all?

Either check the adaptor yourself or have someone check it to make sure it is putting out the required voltage. If not it sounds like you just need to get a new adaptor

- When you looked this up online did anyone solve this by installing a new battery?

Jan 12, 2009

- The mother board detects the power coming into the computer and if any part of it is not right the computer has no way of knowing that is the correct adaptor. Since computers require a certain amount of power to run all of the components if it detects it is getting an abnormal amount of power it will display this message. If you know there is no problem with the A.C adaptor this is your only other option. I would say to keep using the Laptop as a desktop until it won't boot anymore. and make sure you back up all your info on an dexternal device frequently.

- I just wanted to ask why i got a thanks for trying rating. we walked through all possible fixes and determined there was no way to fix this besides a rebuild. So in your opinion how does this constitute the associated rating?

- Thank you for changing the rating but i really am interested in how i could have been of more assistance to you? Was there something else you had expected?
