I borrowed a craftsman front tine tiller model

I borrowed a craftsman front tine tiller model number 247.299340 from my friend. A couple days ago as I was using it and I ran out of gas so I filled it up again and tried starting it up. When I pulled the rope the engine turned half ways and then it stopped like it got stuck. I thought it might be the spring or the pull rope so I took that off and verified it was good. I'm able to turn the engine either way by hand but only to a certain point and then it gets stuck. As I turn it I can here the parts inside moving. Any suggestion on what might be happening. Thank you

SOURCE: Sears front tine tiller....900 series, 24

The pawl ratchets seem to be sticking for some reason, try some WD40 inside the recoil. Stephen.

Craftsman rear tine tiller

If you cant move the tines by hand then I wouldn't think you sheared the pins, more like a gear box problem.

It sounds like the belt just stretched. Now you need to move the belt tensioner over to put more pressure on it.
