If it is so badly curved the channel display is hard to see you have a part in the set bad---these like most have a pincussion circuit--it is individual parts that make the set have a straight picture on the sides especially, years (decades) there were controls in sets for this but to make sets cost less they use fixed parts.

It will not be an expensive part in most cases but finding it and replacing it in a older set may not be economical.

If you really like the set call a few shops to see if they will work on it and get a ballpark estimate.

Let me know if you have questions.

SOURCE: Tv has lost two outer sides of vision despite changing picture mode

That's either a high voltage problem, or a deflection problem. WARNING, CRT Based Televisions have potently life threatening voltages inside them, and should be serviced by trained personnel only. With that out of the way. According to http://www.repairhelper.com It's a capacitor failure Fault - Width and E/W correction fault Remedy - Replace R626 and C630 I don't have a manual so I can't tell you for sure what the resistor and capacitor do, or where they are located.

SOURCE: can only see half the picture

your problem is in vertical output section.

the ckt which is connected to vertical output section is called feedback ckt.

please check.

1 loose contact in feed back ckt.

2 mostly this problem is due to electrolytic capacitor failure.

3 vertical output  IC or transistor failure.

4 check for proper supply to vertical output.

5  low value resistor failure in v/output ckt  (.in rare case)

IF YOU ARE NOT TECH PERSON PLEASE TAKE HELP.

  1. hope this will help.

SOURCE: Suddenly no sound & no picture overnight: is my TV dead?

If you have static siugnal, sure TV is not dead.

Check the aerial cable, ensure it is well plugged in and getting signal.

If you are using a receiver box, check cables to TV and receiver (freeview, sat, cable etc.), try setting channels on receiver again, if it does not work but you get static, then either the cables or receiver are defective.

Test the TV on standalone , connecting it to an external antenna.
Tune again the channels, and save the preset.
If still no signal then the antenna socket on the TV may be defective.

Try using the TV with a DVD.

If you can watch DVDs, and TV is not keeping channels preset, and you tried all the above, at this point htere may be a fault in the tuner card inside tv.

Call the phone number listed on tv user manual to get support, and eventually repair it.

Probably not. RCA parts for this model are very difficult to find. Even you could find a kit, it will not have enough to repair. A do it yourselfer or TV tech will have a difficult time repairing this. Please shop for a new TV. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again? My ge gem screen t.v will not come on after we had

ok, make it sure that the outlet is working by plugging-in like electric fan and if it works call a certified tech to check your TV(you cannot do that by yourself:( )...make it sure that your TV is not 4 years or older 'coz those outside tech they charge too much and it's better to buy a new one :)

How to clean inside of screen?

Your tv has two screens on it. The outter screen and the inner screen. The outter screen has a frame around it held on by clips. You can remove this outter screen by gently prying it from the tv. There is a small gape between the outter screen and the tv casing. When prying the outter screen be carefull not to dsanage the tv case or the outter screen frame. Take note of the location of each clips because you will need thses to put the outter screen back on. Clean with a good gentle screen cleaner, (Do Not Use Windex). Philips screen cleaning gel for plasma & LCD works very good. Install the outter screen back on the tv by making sure the clips line up and use light pressure to snap it back in place. Do Not Hit Outter Screen To Force Clips Into Place.. I do this on my tv about once every 6 months or so.

Red Gun screwy!!

You have a typical convergence problem here that happens on just about every tube type projection TV set ever made. There are two STK IC's that will need to be changed. Best thing to do, if you have any soldering experience on printed circuit boards, would be to get the service manual, locate the convergence amp IC's order the correct parts and not any replacement IC's that cost less the 20 bucks, and change the IC's. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
