LGR7647 will dry fine but smells like gass only when it runs.

My Whirlpool LGR7647 will dry ok. Everytime it drys, it smells like gas. and only when it runs. It has completed 2 or 3 loads like this. The gas supplier says there is no leak. Any ideas?

Make sure the air shutter on the gas nozzle isnt completely blocked or changed positions as the flame needs oxygen to make combustion complete otherwise the gas wont burn completely and you will get a black smoke that smells like raw gas

SOURCE: machine drys fine on timed cycles but shuts off before clothes are dry on automatic cycle.

the automatic feature could be the problem. the damp sensor could be faulty. the timer would run even though the clothes are still damped. it is supposed to stop while the clothes are still wet.

I have a Estate Whirlpool model#TGD5740. Smells like smoke when running. Still drys with heat and runs fine. What would cause this

You could have a build up of lent inside the dryer which might have ignited. Dryer should be dissasembled and cleaned.
Could be that your motor is over heating.
Depends on what type of smell your smelling;.If its the motor over heating, motor would have to be replaced.

First try cleaning the moisture sensors with rubbing alcohol, these are two silver colored strips located inside the drier just below the lint cleanout

Changing gas whirlpool dryer heating ailment

Before you do that try this pull the unit out from the wall remove the venting from the back run a load and let the hot air go intop the house if it drys fine you have a plugged vent going to the outside and it will need to be cleaned out (This is the most common problem for long dry time)

Whirpool Dryer......

GAS or Elect. does not make a diffrence 95% of drying too long problems are from a clogged vent try to run a normal load with the vent off the the back letting the hot air into the house if it drys normal then you need to clean out the venting going to the outside If you are worried about the lint blowing inside you can put an old pantiehose over the vent to catch the lint dust

Dryer must have ignited lint inside the cabinet " smells like burnt popcorn" now the dryer takes forever to dry the clothes.

check your venting !!! run a load with out the vent pipe on the back see if it drys normal if so your problem is in you vent duct to the outside
