The lamp is the only thing that will cause the picture to go darker. According to the model you have the lamp part number is BP96-01472A. The noise you hear could possibly be the color wheel itself. The way to tell is when you turn off the TV the lamp stays on for about 10 seconds longer. Once the lamp shuts off if that noise goes away then it is a bad color wheel. Any noises past that would be a fan. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I hope this help in solving the problem....

SOURCE: I have a Samsung HLP6163W
The buzzing that you hear it caused by the transformer of the power source - it's put under such an excessive stress that it vibrates violently. This is a very dangerous situation: unplug the tv immediately or it will fail catastrophically - it can even burst out in flames.
This is caused by a massive failure of the illumination system: either you have put the wrong bulb or the bulb is defective (or it has been badly installed) and has shorted the ballast board. Or the ballast board has just failed on its own due to old age - something to be expected on tv's like yours.
The tv must be opened and the bulb and its boards tested to see how big the damage is and what other boards besides the ballast ones will have to be replaced. It will be very expensive.
This is a complicated repair, a good electronics knowledge is mandatory. If you don't have that knowledge and you have to call a pro it will be best if you would get a quote before accepting the repair.

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.
The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.
Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.
if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.
Good luck in solving the problem....
