Question about Danby Microwave Ovens

Open Question

Is my Dented microwave safe or dangerous.

I booked it online, and on opening it I found dent on its outer right side of the cuboidal panel. The dent is right in the middle of right side and at the lower end,the end/side which is towards the ground surface. The dent has caused the lower exhausts or valves on right side to stuck in a little (But there is still some gap between the outer cover and inner wired body). It has made oven look a bit out of shape, but the door is opening and closing properly. And from inside it looked OK.The door is able to seel off completely...My main concern is the exhausts stucking inwards a little and making a shape of lower right side of oven like this- },as if someone has poked at that lower end...Will it create a problem in exhasuting, like getting hot or melting. Since I am naive at using it,is it right to use it or go for a replacement...

SOURCE: Is my dented microwave safe to use?

Hello carillon553,
If you haven't compromised the door opening or inner compartment, then it is more than likely OK to use. The magnetron ( which generated the microwave energy ) has a waveguide that focuses that energu into the cooking compartment and a small dent to the cabinet normally has no impact on its safety.. Hope that helps..
If you are overly concerned with that, then you would need a technician that has an RF Power Meter to check it.. If it were me, and the dent was small.. I would just use it...
Regards,
Rick

I have a Panasonic Microwave Model NN-SD277. How do you access the workings of the door opener button? It is broken so the door won't open.

You have to remove the outer cover, the plastic lift levers are behind the door open button / lever. Caution!, panasonic discontinued a lot of those and getting a replacement part can be hard at times. Dont waste your time trying to glue it. After watching people try to glue or epoxy those cheap plastic parts for so many years. I have to warn folks to not waste your time trying. .It will not hold!!!! Look online and try to find a replacement part somewhere. It will be one of two parts. the door open button you push, or the door open lever that the front button pushes against. If you unplug the unit and remove the outer cover simply look behind the front control panel and when you push the button to open the door you will see where it is supposed to lift to open the door. The broke part is your problem, may be a piece laying in the bottom.

These are very standard appliance globes and your local hardware store can tell you which one if you take the blown one with you.
But if you want to order one you can do so from this online site.

Yes it is a certain danger, DO NOT USE your microwave until this has been repaired. You should be able to get specialist paint and kit from your local hardware store. Here's a handy kit I found online:

How to replace open lever on sharp r-1470a

This just happened to me this week and I was able to get to the part and order it online. The part will cost you between $5-$9 plus shipping.
1. First things first, unplug the microwave! Then you can begin to remove the microwave from above the stove and onto a flat workable surface. Underneath the microwave are two grease filters. Remove them simply by sliding them out. You will see in each cavity a bolt/screw at a 45 degree angle. These two bolts/screws secure your microwave to the back plate/mounting bracket. It helps to have an extra set of hands to assist you. Unscrew the bolts/screws. Then lift the microwave up slightly and tip it forward to remove it being cautious about snagging the cord on anything. Place on a solid, flat surface.
2.Remove the front top fan vent. It's the slotted piece of plastic at the top of the microwave. It'll have 3 screws. Underneath that piece above your control panel is a screw. That screw will have a warning next to it indicating to disconnect from power source before working on it.
3. Next you'll need to remove the housing shell. There are two large screws on both sides of the oven at the middle bottom. Then on the rear are several screws to remove in addition to the silver bracket with an arrow on it. Remove the screws from that as well. Now gently remove the outer shell of the oven. Do so slowly as you'll have to slide the cord through the opening to create space. Once you have enough space, you can unplug the power cord from the microwave via a Tamiya connector. Place the shell off to the side.
4. Now you can remove the sensor panel. It's clip in so gently pry it off and leave the wires attach. It'll dangle but should be secure enough to hang on it's own.
5. From here, you'll be able to see the open lever. It's located behind where the push open button on the control panel is located on the bottom. It's held in place via two "knobs". In my particular case, one of the knobs broke. To remove the open lever, behind one of the knobs is a piece of metal tab to keep it from falling out of place. Simply bend the tab in a bit and pull the lever out the side of the opened microwave shell.
Hope this help. I'm in no means an appliance expert, just a handy guy who is cheap as hell :)

I have a small dent in my stainless steel refrigerator. I've tried a plunger and the blow dryer and dry ice trick any other ideas?

Because it is stainless steel it is not likely that it will come out the compressed air and blow dryer are you best bet but it is unlikely that it will come out

How to install led display

Disconnect from any power source. Remove the outer case. Press to open the door and just beneath the open button there is a self tapping screw holding the front unit down and in the slots. Remove the screw. Remove the plugs making a note of where they all came from! (A mobile phone camera is very handy for this job).
The panel assembly will come away from the chassis now.
Unscrew the display panel and disconnect.
Fit and connect the new panel, re fit the assembly and connect the plugs, refering to your drawing/photo.
Replace the screw after fiddling around for a while getting the mechanism in the correct place.
Fit the outer case and test with 1/2 litre of water. Measure the temperature of the water in the beaker. Heat on full microwave power for 1 minute. Check the temperature.
For your machine the temperature rise should exceed 9 degrees Celcius. If it does, you have a safe microwave cooker.
Hope this helps.

No power not even a clock i hve checked outlets

Well, there is a fuse in these units which sounds like your problem in this instance. You can get to it by removing the outer panel on the microwave. To do this, look for all screws/bolts on the back/bottom of the microwave and remove them. This will let you remove the outer panel and give you access to the internals. Make sure you unplug the microwave first before opening it and don't touch internal components for at least an hour after unplugging it to stay safe. The fuse can be replaced at a hardware or electronics store. Let me know if you need any more help with this.

The light no longer comes on.

The owner's manual (online here) does not address it, so it is not intended to be changed by the user.

You would have to unplug the unit, remove the outer case, and located the bulb, usually on the right side in or near the air duct in front of the magnetron.

You can take the bad bulb to a grocery store, home center, or big box store to match it up.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
