It is a simple matte.I think a set of straight stairs will cost roughly $1,000 to $2,000. This figure uses a set of pre-built wooden stairs along with a custom-made handrail as a base price indicator.

Rust is forming on my C table saw deck. Is it a defect? What to do.

Any saw with a cast iron top is prone to rusting. Basements usually have a higher humidity factor which makes the rust appear faster. Some people take a handfull of coarse sawdust with a little oil or WD-40 and rub the table top down to inhibit the rust. I don't like the thought of getting the oil on my wood so I use a good car wax (like most manuals will tell you to use) and seal the metal that way. Rub it in and buff it out well. Not only will it inhibit rusting but your wood will slide on the top extremely easily. Do it every couple months, depending on use, and your table won't rust anymore.

I am considering purchasing a Woods timer to connect my dehumidifier to so that I can just run it for approx. 3 hours per day. I have a three prong electrical plug on the dehumidifier. Which timer would...

I suggest 120Volt HB113C Intermatic appliance timer for heavy motor loads like dehumidifier:
http://www.smarthome.com/25071/Intermatic-HB113C-120V-20A-Heavy-Duty-Mechanical-Appliance-Timer/p.aspx
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#appliance

Dehumidifier has watt rating on nameplate.
Dehudifier has a compressor or motor load.
Many timers today are not rated for 1500Watt and 1800Watt motor load of dehumidifier.
For example Woods 59377 timer can handle 1875 watts, but timer is for incandescent only.
Woods 59366 timer is rated incandescent only. Your motor might burn up timer and be a fire hazard.

Hi How do you find out if the staircase in your house is classed as unsafe and do you need to have a building inspector to pass the staircase off as safe or unsafe.

Hi,

May I ask why you want this information? The direction you go is affected by the reason. Is it because you want to sell the house, you just bought it, or you are wanting to repair, etc.? Calling in a building inspector could mean unwanted costs should you not want to repair the staircase.

If you want to sell it and want to find out if it's safe, yes, have the municipal inspector come out. They will do it for free, I believe.

If you are buying and want to know, your best bet is to hire a home inspector.

If you want to repair because you don't think your staircase is safe, a building contractor can come and give you an estimate for repairs and you can ply him for what needs to be done while he's there if you want to do the repairs yourself.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Frequent cycle times on my home furnace

There are a few things that can cause this problem. The most common is the hole behind the thermostat for the wiring was not covered up when the thermostat was installed. The thermostat will sense the air in the wall space or the basement if it is open to the back of the wall supporting the thermostat. Turn off the power to the air conditioner if attached and the furnace, remove the thermostat from the wall and seal up the wiring hole with duct tape. Insure the thermostat is mounted level when reinstalled. The thermostat should be mounted to sense the return air to the furnace, if the stair well leads upstairs, warm air rises, so keep the upstairs close to the same temperature as down stairs or move the thermostat and install a door to block air movement to the upstairs. There is a heat anticipator on the thermostat, the setting for it is in the installation manuel. For most gas furnaces it is .8. It is very easy to short out the thermostat when making this adjustment, so always have the power off.

Are you saying that you have filled the 3rd room or are you saying that the water in the Rotating Staircase rose three levels? If the third room was filled and not the Rotating Staircase room, then it means you missed something and you need to go back. (There should be water flowing from three hallways) However, if the Rotating Staircase room's water-level rose three times, you should be able to reach the island in the middle with no problems.

Check to see if you have water coming out of three of the hallways pouring into the Rotating Staircase room. If one door doesn't have water coming from it (and has a little river-way) then you need to go back in that hallway and open up the waterway.
