It could be head dirt, bad switches, broken head wire or electronics problem. A Technician or you if you know electronics will need to get into it further to find where the problem is. There si no magic wand except some alcohol and a Q tip if the heads are dirty.

SOURCE: FAULTY LEFT CHANNEL ON PLAYBACK ON PIONEER

Is it electronic or mechanical? The left channel is the physical outer edge of the tape. It's more sensitive to damage and sloppy contact with the heads. If you can see a wave in light reflected off the tape it's probably shot.

When's the last time you cleaned the heads?

SOURCE: my sony cassette deck will

Chances are there is a fault on the right channel. It could be caused by a faulty switch or a wire off on the tape head. Lastly a fault in the electronics.

Akai x 360d tape deck shows recording in both channels in stereo mode on playback one channel has a weak sound

1) Clean the heads real well using denature alcohol. If this does not fix it then try spraying the record play switches with Deoxit contact cleaner. After that it could be the well known Akai garbage transistors that a Technician will need to change.

Akai cassette deck GXC-725D playback only on one channel

Clean switches, check head wiring if it is a three head deck and then there could be bad relay contacts, defective electrolytic capacitors and even a malfunction in a muting circuit. That is why there are no easy answer but to get in with a scope and find out where the signal stops.

Aai have the following AKAI Audio Stereo System and no Idea how to connect them. Please help Akai Model AP-D210 turntable Akai model CS-F14 Stereo cassette deck Akai model AT-K110 Fm Am Tuner Akai...

In general, outs to ins.

If nothing else, get the manuals for the preamp and the EQ. You'll probably have to pay for them.

Google it.

Akai PR-A04 preamplifier << This is the control center and where everything comes together.

Akai AP-D210 turntable (ONLY to jacks that say "PHONO"
Akai EA-G40 Stereo Graphic Equalizer (in the Tape 1 Out/In set)
Akai CS-F14 Stereo cassette deck (in the Tape Out/In set of the EQUALIZER) *
Akai AT-K110 Fm Am Tuner (to the Tuner inputs)
Akai DT-100 Audio Tuner (to the Aux inputs)
Akai PA-W04 Amplfier (to the amp outputs)

* This will allow you to Equalize the Tape on the Record or the Playback side.

Read some audio magazines or websites. Get to understand Tape Monitor Loops.

Don't use excessive EQ.

Won't record and play sounds muffled

Muffled sound is either damaged media (is it mostly the Left Channel? Multiple tapes or not?) or dirty Playback Head. Clean the heads and transport.

Please define better what "won't record" means. Tapes to be recorded need to have the little tab in the corner of the cassette shell present to allow the machine to enter record mode.

I have a akai gx f91 cassette deck just wonderd how much it worth

I have a counterpoint to the above statement. BarryMusic is correct that the AVERAGE cassette deck is worth about $20 bucks. You know, those piano keyed wow and flutter hiss monsters made from plastic Tupperware bins. However, the AKAI GX-F91 was at the pinnacle of cassette deck technology, just predating the release of CD. While never quite reaching the cult status of the Nakamichi Dragon or a few Studer Revox units, a drab one will easily fetch $200-$400 dollars as a PARTS MACHINE. A fully restored GX-F91 in the right market (Japan, Europe, the Middle East) can go NORTH of $1000. An all time high I saw was $1717 for a cherry machine. http://www.audio-extasa.eu/akai-gxf91-cassette-deck-p-648.html

Motor for Akai GXC-740D Casette Deck

Hi pelagic

The motor is probably faulty. The heat is a give away for that. Many motors for older decks can still be sourced. Can you see what part numbers may be on the back plate of the motor and I can find a source for you. Awaiting your reply

robotek
