Question about Seagate Expansion 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive
Hi, i bought a seagate expansion portable drive MODEL NO: ST903204EXD101-RK , 320 GB, PN: 9SC2D3-572, SN: 2GHT3M6B from a shop and asked the shopkeeper to take out the internal drive from the portable drive case and install that internal drive in my laptop...i had to give him my laptop so he could install the drive ...he did it and i got my laptop back the next day, cheers ...But now i checked and found that the internal drive in my laptop is recognized as SEAGATE MOMENTUS ST9320325AS, SN: S2WEWXH0, PN: 9HH13E-567...Problem >>the SN of the expansion portable drive (plastic casing and box) is different from the internal drive in my laptop which was taken out from this expansion drive...i want to know if it is alright for the internal drive in the expansion drive plastic case to have a different SN from the plastic case and box???....if SN of internal drive and plastic casing and box should be same(with different Part Numbers), the shopkeeper must have kept the internal drive from the expansion drive casing to himself and installed any old drive in my laptop...also only 298.7 GB of the 320 GB hard disk is available to me (including system reserved)...and i also checked the warranty ...the warranty for expansion drive SN is till 10 aug 2014 and for internal drive SN it says >>"The product you identified was sold as a system component. Please contact your place of purchase for service. Seagate sells many drives to direct OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers. These products are usually configured for the OEMs only, as components for their systems. You must contact your place of purchase for any warranty support on these drives."

You remove the foot/stand unit, then the silver cover with the circular rubber ring can be carefully pried off. If you do this, you'll void the warranty, so if you want to do this because your unit is dead, then you should return it for a warranty repair. If you're doing this to put a larger capacity drive in the box, be aware that larger or faster hard drives might generate more heat which could adversely affect the new drive's ability to operate properly.

My system is brand new, and completely protected with Macaffe, other USB drives are working fine, I checked Seagate External drive in other Vista and XP laptops, it is not detected in computer, as well I checked with even Device Manager, and UVCView.x86, it is not even showing as a USB device Connected.

The problem may be there in your hard drive, try the hard drive with another computer and if the problem persists, go to the nearest Service Center of the Manufacturer.
