Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Why won't it turn on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my Sansa E260 not even 6 months ago. It worked great up until about a month ago. It started shutting off on it's own; reguardless if the battery was dead or fully charged. And now it won't turn on at all. I can connect it to my computer and put songs, pictures, and videos on it. But as soon as I disconnect the USB cable it shuts off and I am still not able to turn it on. I have tried putting the hold button on, and pressing the REC. button and the MENU button at the same time. It doesn't work. I've tried reseting it by pushing the MENU button for 15 seconds. What can I do??? I've taken really good care of it no scratches no nothing and it all of a sudden stops working. If this is something I can't fix, these things are a HUGE waste of money.

Recovery Mode:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

My computer wont recognize my USB

Try the following steps:

Resetting the device:
1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.

NOTE: Resetting will turn the player off while it is frozen.

If that doesn't work, then you may download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater and update to the latest firmware.

My sansa just froze & the buttons don't work, i can't turn it off

I had the same problem. Remove the the 4 small screws on the back, and carefully take off the back cover. Remove the black and white battery pack. After about one minute, reinstall the battery pack and put the back cover on. It should now work again.

Hope this helps.

My screen is messing up

Hi hope this helps. Turn off your e260. Slide the hold switch for it to show red/orange color. Then press the record button and the menu button until you see on the screen of the player "Welcome to Recovery Mode". Now go to the sandisk website and download the firmware update if you have not tried to update the firmware of the player. Run and install it on your computer, when it ask you to connect a device hook your player to the computer and then it will try to look for updates for the player. When it does update the firmware of the player. And also if you can get to the menus of the player you may want to format the player maybe it is your songs causing the problem. Switch the player to MSC then open My Computer and format your player on that window.
