SOURCE: Canon MP780 print head won''t move automatically

THis may be a stupid suggestion but normally, you must open some housing part to force it to center for service or cartridge replacement and the closure of the same access part causes the carriage to return to its hiding place.
With the power on, gently push against the carriage in either direction. If it doesn't fight with you, the belt may be either off a pulley or torn.

Canon MX860 won't print from large black cartridge. I've tried all cleaning solutions with no change.

Hi!

When you say that you went through the cleaning process, did you use the Canon Utility to clean the print heads?

I'd try that-- feel free to reply to this post should you need any additional assistance.

I've also attached the support page directly from Canon for your model printer.

How do I reset or fix an Error B200 Code on a Canon PIXMA MX860 Printer?

Dear
Please try the following to see if we can resolve your issue:
1. Open the cover of the printer.
2. Remove all ink tanks from the printer.
3. Lift up the gray locking lever on the side of the ink tank holder.
4. Gently remove the print head from the carriage unit.
5. Place the print head back in and lock the lever down.
6. Place all of the ink tanks back in the printer.
7. Close the cover and turn the printer off.
8. Unplug the power from the printer. Leave the power unplugged for about 5-10 minutes.
9. Plug the power back in and turn the printer on.

Thanks

Mx860 prints too light

Replace your ink cartridges again. Seem like the print heads are busted already. Try returning the cartridges to the seller or ask to have them replaced.

Canon mx860 printer not using ink from PGBK 220

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Canon mx860 - had an error code C000 and now a day later 306A

Error code C000. Cancel printing, and turn off the machine. Then clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Head Holder from moving.

For more information about the error code C000, can be read here Canon Support and Downloads

My Pixma MX860 is making a horrible clattering noise & I am getting an error message code of 5C20. What is the problem?

Defective print cartridge, not inserted properly
http://support-hk.canon-asia.com/contents/HK/EN/8000138702.html

Or could be a defective print head that has worked loose and the clattering you hear is caused by it jamming, follow link above and check and reseat the head
