SOURCE: code error 0146 and 0148

Both of these are hard drive errors. Error 0146 is a failed hard drive or bad drive sector, and 0148 is that thew machine is no longer detecting the hard drive. Basically, your hard drive has failed and will need replaced. Replace the hard drive and you will be set. The best place I've found to buy hard drives is at pricewatch.com, they have the best prices on the market.

SOURCE: Cannot boot up Inspiron 8200

The configuration is the internal HDD is the Master on the Primary IDE bus, the fixed optical drive is the Slave on the Primary IDE bus, the Media Bay device is the Master on the Secondary IDE Bus. Pull the HDD and nothing will work.

The error occurs when either the HDD or optical drive becomes half connected to its connector. That locks up the bus and the BIOS reports both failed. Reseat one or both of the drives. The Inspiron cases flex too much because of the loose palm rest "feature"

plz give me a good feedback.

Dell inspiron 1525 shows black screen after dell logo?

The computer cant find a bootable device. Either your boot sector on your Hard drive is gone/damaged (most likely a virus) or the Hard drive failed. Start with booting with your windows disk and try to do a repair installation.

Dell won't boot up. The following problems isolated by F12: 3600:0123 Battery test failed 0F00:075D IDE device failed: the self test failed to read ... 0F00:0244 Block 1905 74359: uncorrectable data error...

sounds like a complete motherboard failure with a lot of other problems.
if you remove the HDD ( turn the machine over. 2 screws on the right.slide drive out ) and mount it in an external caddy you should be able to use another machine to access the drive and probably get most data off it.

My dell inspiron 6400 lap top will not do anything when i swich it on only show up the dell screensaver can u help iv tryed swoping the hard drive and it dosent help

I had a similar problem. I fitted a new hard drive loaded windows and on the first re boot i had no OS again.
I went into the bios checked the boot order and also the hard drive booting options. My settings had unticked the hard drive as a bootable drive. When i ticked it and installed the original HD it worked again.
At least i have a spare Hard drive in the draw :)

your hard drive has failed, on boot (dell splash screen) press f12 to bring up boot menu, choose diagnostics option, run this and it should confirm hard drive failure on dst short test (drive self test) and give an error code (e.g 2000 - 0142), trust me on this i am a dell field service engineer

I'm in the process of "downgrading" my Dell Inspiron 6400/e1505 from Vista to XP. Using nLite I have slipstreamed drivers downloaded from the Dell website and then created a bootable iso XP disk which...

Just boot from XP CD - pressing F12 should give you the option in Bios, allowing you to boot from CD when all is completed. Some PCs still need sata/scsi drivers loaded by pressing F6 in the install. If all fails read original manual that came with Dell 6400. If lost you should be able to download from dell support, using express service tag.
